It was never clear to me what the constitutional basis was for a state to disenfranchise a state citizen's federal voting rights. States can't add extra requirements for those running for federal offices, seems by symmetry that they shouldn't be able to add extra requirements for those voting for them.

Her voter registration was processed by publicly-funded employees acting as representatives of the Secretary of State. Howzabout we kicked down the Secretary of State's door with the jackboots also, too, since it was his job to make sure no one ineligible to vote was allowed to register?
