The "Nacht und Nebel" aspect of this is chilling. Straight from the Prinz-Albrecht-Straße.

In Florida I believe that voting while black is a felony.

"No one should be arrested for regular voting, ever — and they sure as hell shouldn’t be charged with a felony for doing so. " Way too broad, or at least too vague on what "regular voting" is. Surely a citizen of another state or another country should be charged for voting in a state election. The citizens of FL need to get back to it and override the GOPs extra restrictions using the popular vote. It isn't clear to me that even imprisoned felons should be disenfranchised, and certainly those who have been released shouldn't be, whether or not they are still on parole or owe some fines. It was never clear to me what the constitutional basis was for a state to disenfranchise a state citizen's federal voting rights. States can't add extra requirements for those running for federal offices, seems by symmetry that they shouldn't be able to add extra requirements for those voting for them.

Here it is, Art. I Sec 4:

"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators."

One thing I know for sure.

This shit would never happen to Charles Kushner, Jared’s dad and a convicted felon.

Her voter registration was processed by publicly-funded employees acting as representatives of the Secretary of State. Howzabout we kicked down the Secretary of State's door with the jackboots also, too, since it was his job to make sure no one ineligible to vote was allowed to register?

So a 69 year old black woman was so scary and dangerous that the police were forced to surprise her at 3am to arrest her? And shackled her? Damn there are some cowardly assholes on that police force.

You forget they might have grandmas still alive and some scary aunties too, living still near them.

PTSD victims no doubt. We always are supposed to feel for the concerns of the LE guys.

So is there any effort by the state to figure this out or will they just keep arresting people after midnight? Where is the fucking DOJ? The lawyers are going after tfg, the DOJ could do some real work for a change.

Ms. O lived near Orlando for eleven years, before we ever met. We talked about making a trip down there so she could show me her old haunts, if they survived the transformation of the Orlando area from the late 70's.

Now, neither of us have much desire to do that.

Ron DeSantis is vile, hateful, vindictive, racist, inhuman scum. So, like, a middling Republican. That is all.
