I think democracy is important in the Nordic countries because you can’t survive without working together. You need enough supplies to get through months of winter, then you need to be able to store and protect those supplies, and you need enough people that if your best hunter gets a arrow to the knee there is still a capable hunting party.
You can’t just turn your back and stomp off into the wilderness and stake a claim. Well, you can, but it tends not to turn out well.
I think I saw him in Coquitlam at the Scottish Games earlier this year. My grandfather made a good choice for a vacation home and I am thankful he left it to us. (We remodeled and renovated over the years and emigrated this last June). Beautiful British Columbia.
