WHAT THEY SAY WILL HAPPEN - Employers will tell teens, "If you want, you can work overnight".

Why not just bring back chattel slavery while they're at it?

And don't tell me they haven't thought about it.

Ta, Robyn. Babysitting didn't pay especially well, but any money was better than none (I got no allowance) when I was 12 through 15. Mom kicked me out two weeks after my 16th birthday, and I've been working ever since. No mines, meatpacking plants, or picking produce, however. FL, your kids deserve better.

Notice the "hardship" rationale for letting minors work long hours... meant to keep the poor poor... and under-educated. Here in the backwards backyard of the US (Mexico) families get a stipend for every kid that's in school... not a lot, and some kids are still working, but enough to make it less a necessity for the kids to be out working or working long hours. BTW, the stipends are being expanded thru undergraduate university education.

It's not so much that people with less education vote R as that people with less education don't vote... usually because they don't have access to information, or... given the weird electoral laws in the 50 US states... can't vote, or don't have time off to vote,.

Fun fact! All those kids in the picture above are still on the social security today! They're 120 and have been dead for 100 years!

I knew it I knew it was coming. Just as soon as I saw Sarah Sanders propose this legislation In Arkansas, after deporting too many migrants, which left them in a scarcity of people who would be willing to Do that work because of course they’re the next vulnerable population or diaspora in line

This.

I tried to raise so much hell about this - and was patted on the head - as did Chris Jones, who ran against her and was an MIT graduate.

How did he lose? Is there that much voter suppression in Arkansas?

Is it just that he's a Black man ... ?

My father had to quit school in the 8th grade to go into the mines because his father had black lung. He didn't want us to have to quit school, he made sure we didn't have to. This is outrageous.

My Father wouldn't allow me to have a job during the school year. I was to devote my energies to school and if I had any spare time after that, he had plenty of things for me to do.

It’s all so clear now. What isn’t clear is how these sinister creeps got to be in charge. The cult, the evangelicals and all of those mesmerized by a quickly fading conman have empowered him to run roughshod over our Constitution.

VOTER SUPPRESSION. Starting in 2013 by John Roberts gutting preclearance provisions in the Voting Rights Act.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5fodXUTFJ64

Racist states RACED to their legislative offices to pass laws that no longer required federal preclearance to make sure Black people and poor White people would have to crawl over broken glass to vote.

And then there was the rest of the racist propaganda. Racism is a tool of fascism, and I've been saying this every single time this question comes up for twelve years now.

And people keep asking.

Are you all just not hearing the answer?

Look, if we don’t exploit kids when they’re young, how will they ever learn that their proper place in society is to be cheap, disposable cogs in the corporate profit machine?

This Florida law doesn’t go far enough. Why are we allowing these kids to sit on their asses in school, when they could be working? Shouldn’t Florida end mandatory public education? Then these kids could work 50-60 hours a week, as god intended. Of course, they’d get Sundays off. Those Florida Republicans aren’t inhuman.

They won't get Sundays off, they'll just get prayer breaks (no eating allowed)
