But is "feckless nepo baby" still acceptable?

I was born with and still have female genitalia, yet I have had people tell me that I'm not a real woman because I have not produced crotch goblins, so I am suspicious of all this tortured nomenclature.

Isn't this all actually a distraction from the fact that Sarah's office is currently under scrutiny for misappropriation of funds? Because last I checked, it's looking like she let her friend bill the state for a $19K all expenses paid girls' trip to Paris.

She can be an assholes for multiple reasons!

Republicans should all have little signs on their desks and wear buttons… “culture warrior”. Huckster simply wants to feel she’s winning that war by banning words that recognize a changing society and people she doesn’t like. So she will legislate words people cannot use. Just another version of Don’t Say Gay (instead, lie to the government and steal Covid money and go to prison).

"Rather than “human milk,” use “breast milk.”"

As distinct from elbow milk, or...?

Well y'know there's some body fluids which can look somewhat milky under the right light *waggles eyebrows*

Also, she plans to ban the word "podium".

I thought she was on the side of podium? What with how much she claims she spent for the latest model that may or may not be in her office?

“Every day, we are told that we must partake in their rituals, salute their flags, and worship their false idols, all while big government colludes with Big Tech to strip away the most American thing there is—your freedom of speech. That’s not normal. It’s crazy, and it’s wrong.”

Just bookmarking this hot garbage to have it handy next time some conservative starts culture-warring me.

Well thank Crom we've restored civility and decorum to the government (HARD /S).

It’s amazing that the crowd that screams the loudest about FREEDOM wants to take so many freedoms away from everyone else. It’s almost like they’re pushing a different agenda or something,

As in any dick-measuring contest, the only criteria is more. If the Freedom crowd doesn't have more freedom than other people, then their freedom might as well be meaningless.

I keep getting a free Sunday paper even though I cancelled my subscription in disgust at what Gannet has done to a previously good paper.

The sports section included a Joe Manchin quote about student athletes.

The Chin says "It's getting hard to root for the kids when they're multimillionaire as freshmen and sophomores."

Wha?!? I guess he's mad because they won't throw money at him, like the coal companies do.

Fine.

Cut out school sports, which siphon off too much money from academics anyway.

Problem solved.

What about band and theater?

Expand full comment

Granted that it's been awhile since I was in high school, but I don't think band and theater (in the schools that still have them) are budgeted anywhere near as much money as sports.

Expand full comment

I think that people look at the excesses of place like Texas and think that every school district in America pours thousands of dollars into sports to the detriment of anything else.

Where I went to school the band was extremely well funded, as was everything else because we were a wealthy district.

Everything extracurricular today is massively subsided by outside fund raising and business partnerships not to mention that usually the participants have to pay to be involved.

Regardless of the level of funding, those other things are also taking away from academic investment so they should not be exempted.

Manchin only roots for young athletes that get the crap beaten out of the on the regular for free.

Elitist you say? What? No, never.

Expand full comment

This is about amateur athletes owning their own image isn’t it? Wasn’t there negotiations taking place this past week about this?

Yeah Manchin can go suck rocks on that one. No one had trouble rooting for a young Tiger Woods but it’s a problem if it’s a football player? It’s a problem for UNIVERSITIES you mean.

Also hella racist - what colour are most of the impacted athletes, after all?

Is Joe saying it's hard to root for the very wealthy? I can't say I disagree with him.
