Fringe Catholic Screamer Bill Donohue Wants Bill Maher Fired Because He Let Dan Savage Remind People That Priests Raped Kids

Bill Donohue, the president and possible sole member of the Catholic League, has called for HBO to cancel  Real Time With Bill Maher after the most recent show featured Wonket Pal Dan Savage, who very offensively and unfairly suggested that Catholic priests do sex on children. Donohue, who has a history of downplaying sexual abuse by priests, is likely to be about as successful in getting Bill Maher off the air as he was in his epic battle against Jon Stewart last year. We predict that in two weeks, after nothing has happened to Bill Maher, Donohue will declare victory and ask for some donations to continue his important work of complaining about the Simpsons. 

So here's what has Bill Donohue exercised this time:

On his Friday night show, Maher pointed out to sex columnist Dan Savage that a Catholic Bishop who opposed marriage equalityin Hawaii had said that children with same sex parents were at a greater risk of suicide.

“That’s total bullshit,” Savage shot back. “He’s confusing children with gay parents with children who are raped by Catholic priests.”

“Sorry, I am just done being lectured about children and their safety by Catholic-fucking bishops, priests, cardinals.” he continued. “The pope, himself, has let it go. The new pope, who I kind of dig, has let it go.”

Savage continued in a similar vein (ew), mentioning that Chicago bishop who performed an exorcism to drive out the gay demons from Illinois after the state legalized gay marriage.

“To exorcise the state of gay people of having full civil equality!” Savage said. “No exorcism, exorcising the demons of, like, kiddie-fucking Catholic priests. They never got around to that exorcism.”

“They don’t have moral high ground when they talk about the welfare and safety of children, they just don’t,” he added. “They have squandered that on the tips of their dicks.”

Poor Bill Donohue was very, very angry about this, so he took to his blog to call on HBO parent company Time Warner to cancel Real Time, explaining that Dan Savage is an "anti-Catholic bigot" and adding that "“We are sending to every member of Time Warner’s board of directors a copy of 54 anti-Catholic statements made by Bill Maher on TV.” Because nothing impresses people like a listicle. Maybe it would be more effective if Donohue included some GIFs.

So anyway, what really gets Bill Donohue angry is not so much the fact of sex abuse by priests, but bad people in the media who keep acting as if it's a big deal, especially if they use bad words to describe it. Because that's bigotry, the end.
