"The video’s “arguments” are entirely emotional"

Most theistic "arguments' or whatever passes for them, rely on emotions. The entire deal about an afterlife of "good" (heaven) and "bad" (hell) is entirely emotion based. It's also why the concept becomes hard to defend when you actually look at it rationally and logically with the theistic background as a context. It was never meant as a logical or rational construct, just an emotional one meant to appeal to the emotions of their believers, potential or confirmed, and preserve or expand upon their faithful base.

Wind is renewable. Solar power is renewable. Oil, coal and natural gas are not. I suppose if we are being strictly factual, solar and wind aren’t endless either. The sun will burn out in a few billion years when the hydrogen burns out. That will result in the sun dying. Earth will long be either gone or uninhabitable. Isn’t that a crazy thought? We all know we ourselves are temporary, but humanity is too. This is all temporary and a mere blip on the cosmic screen. But oil, gas and coal have limits that are being felt now, and our kids and grandchildren will someday have to rely on other sources of energy, whether they believe it or not.

Simple minded wingers love to appropriate the valor of Jews fighting Nazis, yet they often blame modern day Jews for perdy much everything, and wokeness. Prager thinks spreading misinformation is exactly like fightin’ the Nazis. Okey doke. They are also fond of imagining the worst possible offense a person can commit, and assigning it to their enemies. That’s why they fantasize that libs are cannibalistic pedophiles and Lordy knows what else.

Unfortunately I foresee a big demand for "educational" videos in Florida schools in the near future as teachers there move elsewhere or change careers rather than face threats of prison for teaching facts. There will also be a drop of students in state university education programs as fewer teens see teaching as a rewarding and respected career after bashing from DeSantis and fellow Republicans. With more students per class the remaining teachers may split up classes, showing videos to one section while working in person with another section for an hour, then switching. I really don't see any way to teach a second grade class of 50 kids 7 or 8 years old and give any of them any personal attention without using videos or on line instruction for most of the day.

And with such poor school offerings, maybe those hoor mothers will quit their jobs and stay home to teach the young'uns like the good Lord intended. One more reason to get rid of public schools altogether - property tax too, while yer at it.

Poland is the only country left in Europe that produces the majority of it's domestic energy via coal. It also does it badly. They IMPORT 47% of their requirements from other nations, notably Germany that doesn't burn coal to do that. So, that is a massive crock, they'd need to double their coal-based production to even break even.

It is 2023. The US's major waterways are drying up before our eyes. The planet is on fire. Fish are cooking alive in the seas. Only a monster would deny climate change when we are in the throes of its effects.

So, I'm an astronomer with a heavy physics background, and have taught astronomy and phyiscs for decades at fucking Dartmouth College, which has its issues, but is a great school.

Now, one of the top issues in astrophysics is how energy gets tranferred by radiation, both through space and in the atmospheres of bodies in space.

So, when a great geophysicist named Ray Pierrehumbert wrote a nice article for the American Physical Society's magazine, "Physics Today", entitled "Infrared radiation and planetary temperatures", I was basically the intended audience. And in this article he describes the detailed physics involved in how radiative equilibrium determines the temperature, including deep, wonderful technical detail involving adiabatic convection in the earth's atmosphere, and so on. He also uses Venus and Mars as comparisons, and shows just exactly how they are comparable and how they are different.

Look. Based on his highly informed, and ironclad, arguments, there is NO FUCKING WAY (emphasis intended), that pumping extra CO2 into the atmosphere does not raise the earth's temperature.

The climatologists confim -- it's happening.

I wish it wasn't, but it is.

So, circlimg back, the fact that climate-change denial has become an aspect of the right-wing catechism is .... in-fucking-furiating, and yet another example, as if one were needed, of their craven vacuity. These people are liars, pure and simple.

Have you ever heard of my poor, dear, late, brother; Daniel Moynihan? Who was an engineer with the Cassini Project at UofA? He was a lovely person who would be a major asset of this blog. God rest his poor soul... Damn bob brown (his boss) to hell for driving him to an early grave...

I'm afraid I didn't know him.

I'd heard of Bob Brown, but barely remember the context, since I do entirely different stuff. I am, not just saying this, so sorry that he was driven to an early grave because of job stuff. It is never worth it.

Dan was the engineer that got the photos turned into what we all saw... From Saturn to earth. Most of the other engineers had been laid off due to the "situation" during 2008+. Everyone was fired, laid off. No one else was there to decipher the data... It was all my baby brother. God rest his soul.

Rather than having their kids opt of watching Prager-not-a-U’s videos, parents should arm their kids with facts and science to debunk them.

As with everything produced by Prager-not-a-U, this video engages in incredible projection. They’re the ones who are angry that the “cool kids” aren’t taking them seriously. They offer no counter arguments to the reality of global warming because there are none but claim the “alarmists” are the ones with no counterarguments.

There are counter-arguments to global warming. However, each and every one of them is provably bullshit.

So, kids in Florida schools will find it difficult to compete in the real world for education and employment opportunities, and that competition will be more expensive because the state's policies will take AP classes away from parents hoping to take advantage of those to cut their kids' college tuitions.
