The animated Star Trek really deserves more respect. Good writing (considering the half-hour length they had to work with), it expanded on the established "canon", and thanks to Nimoy's insistence, they got as much of the original cast back as they could.

So it *looks* cheap and cheesy. It's still Star Trek.
