“Once again, people clearly prefer left-wing policies and right-wing politicians.”
It’s because Democrats always let human decency torpedo politics. Republicans use disinformation better than we do. Republicans use propaganda, angry rhetoric and social media better than we do. They lie better and more frequently, and they promise things they never intend to deliver better than we do.
If we want to beat Rs at their own game, we need to join them at the bottom of the barrel and stop hoping civility, fair play and honesty can be returned to politics. Rs will never allow misinformation or willfully dishonest rhetoric to be penalized by campaign laws. That’s free speech! They’ll shout. So we need to take a page out of the DJT handbook. Start accusing Republicans of drinking baby blood to make them younger and cooking cats and dogs and trafficking children and fentanyl and worshiping satan and forcing kids to change genders. And promise to deport every illegal immigrant and make all income tax-free and reduce all gas and grocery prices by 75% with magic coupons. Go get em, Dems!
smug fucks, rubbing our faces in their superiority.
donny, with his little bottles of precious sauces, elon with his ketchup spray and untouched "foods", dj with his spokesman smile and product placement, rfk jr with his leather-faced discomfort, and johnson, with his cool-kid-christian-desperation to fit in.
Sadly they are, and the rest of Americans are on board also too. That last one is about the sad part; other than that, they surely will "fly boing". My popcorn stash is well filled and to you goes a hearty, "Preach, Zen preach!".
Ta, Robyn. We don't eat meat, dairy, eggs, or seafood (other than seaweed) chez Meccalopolis et Zyxomma. And we're raising as many of our own vegetables as we can. We also take really good care of ourselves and each other. Most of our fellow Americans have no idea how to do that. Guess they're fucked.
We do eat meat & dairy, BUT we are beyond picky/careful where & how it comes from -- we can (and do) do without it if source is iffy or unknown. And a big HELL YEAH to raising own garden vegetables! Last year or two we gave it a miss on account of illnesses, but we're all prepped for the upcoming season. :) As for taking really good care of one another, YES! <3 xxoo; Bless; Virgie
~sigh~ Wish we felt the same, but we have grandkids -- and another coming in spring, the MiaKid just announced. I worry about the legacy they're all being left to struggle with, particularly the spectrumish/autistic members and those (like Mia) who are active in LQBTQIA+.
Honestly? I think Himself and I are more discouraged than they are! ~sigh~
There is absolutely no correlation between what people say they want in polls and the politicians they support.
I do not know why, but pretty much every national election this century shows a disconnect between what people say they want who they support.
Messaging harder, good policies, turning a bad economy into a booming economy, etc. does not seem to let voters know which politicians support what policies.
That’s because a giant subset of our population values being sexist and racist above all else. Mehdi Hassan pointed out something after the election: Missouri voters voted in favor or abortion rights and a $15 minimum wage, but also re-elected John Hawley after that badass candidate Kunce.
Hawley and the Republicans are vocally anti abortion and anti minimum wage- yet a majority of the people of that slaveholding union state voted for Hawley/Trump.
Thank you, Wonkette. If you get even a fraction of the nasty comments that I get for my rare, but progressive comments on Substack, then I feel for you. I have used the block button a lot.
"Once again, people clearly prefer left-wing policies and right-wing politicians."
They want 1) economic policies that benefit them, but not necessarily the rest of society, especially non-whites, and 2) to be ruled by loud, violent men because they think a "tough" leader is better than a kind, quiet one.
They're in the minority, but these statistics are still terrifying. Also it doesn't matter that they're in the minority when the GOP doesn't care about what the majority wants.
These are the same people who think evolution and climate change are Jesus-denying communist hoaxes designed to turn America away from Gawd. I shudder to think what they're views on medical science are.
In this podcast, I explore the concept of TRUST and how it is being used, abused and misused. Let's explore it together: https://soberchristiangentlemanpodcast.substack.com/p/s1-ep-7-scgp-rebroadcast
Richest country with the dumbest motherfucking people in the world.

90% of Republicans believe if they drink raw milk tainted with bird flu then they will magically acquire the ability to fly.
At 73 now, I'm surprisingly not much minding the empire crumbling away before my eyes. "boundless and bare

It's not "the economy, stupid."
It's not "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"
It's not "Who would you want to have a beer with?" (Among American politicians, Tim Walz will hold that title until the end of time.)
It's not even issues, or candidates' stances thereupon.
It's TRIBALIST CULTURE WARS. That's been the main driver of who votes for whom, probably since the mid-1960s.
I’m all about maga getting their FAFO from that piece of crap that they elected. Bring it on, cancel their healthcare…
... then let them drink raw milk, and it's only a matter of time.

Apparently that is what voters want. Do they now have regrets? Too FXXXXING Bad, should have voted differently.
No sorrow
LMAO
i go back and forth between rage and liberal empathy.

They have no ragrets…dumb fat and happy listening to their yapping podcasters and Fox News bimbos
What in the name of Azathoth is one-third of the US's people doing still trusting Trump - TRUMP! - on health matters?

And who think a babbling, waddling 78-year-old with a hamster-wheel brain, pancake makeup and a wig is a paragon of virility
Or, as one person famously noted, the concept of, ‘I ingest poison and hope your die’ is the new version of, ‘ Make America Hate Again’!
