He started out as the Great White Hope for murdering a frightened black kid---the internet filled up in an instant with Zimmerman fans (they all called him "Zim"), most of whom turned out to be Russian trolls or members of the Dartmouth Young Republicans' Club, cheering and celebrating the courage of a white man in committing an act of slaughter for the great white race. The impact was, as intended, to give the impression of a Great White Awakening, the White Race rallying around the savage ritual sacrifice of a black kid.
But then when it turned out in real life that (despite a sleazy Florida prosecutor and a bigoted Florida jury giving him a pass) Zimmerman was still just a sneering, vicious, violent, mendacious little creep, all the same trolls started declaring that he wasn't really white after all, because he has Other Blood, through his mother: so the horrid things he did didn't count against Whiteness.
There is not one god damn thing I can say about that murderous, racist cretin George Zimmerman that would not see me immediately banned from Wonkette - and possibly facing criminal charges.
Well, the Dylan movies were just obsessive fannish trivia-mongering (at least as far as the Wiki descriptions go). Then he decided to go with Paul Is Dead and Elvis Is Alive.
