Georgia Voters Let Down Nation, Selves

In what could be a worrying sign of the direction of this year's midterm elections, Wonkette favorite Cynthia McKinney is facing a runoff after not quite netting 50% in her Democratic primary. We feel partly responsible, having let up in our obsessive McKinney coverage following news that she wouldn't be indicted for laying a beat down on a Capitol Police officer.
But we didn't think it needed to be said: Cynthia McKinney must win. Weneedher in Washington. Though her poor showing may not have been her fault:
"You've got electronic voting machines. Many people called in and shared their concern. They pushed the button for Cynthia McKinney and Hank Johnson came up. It wasn't one time, it wasn't two times, it was many, many times," Karen Fitzpatrick, who has been monitoring elections for US Rep. McKinney's re-election campaign, told Atlanta Progressive News in an exclusive interview.
Yes... the Diebold machines, cunning pieces of technology, always make sure to let you know when they've falsified your vote -- after proudly informing you that you've inadvertently voted for the Cheney Regime, they sometimes like to flash "PWNED" in big red letters.
Georgia disappointed us all around yesterday, as they also killed the long and distinguished political career of noted gambling critic/profiteer Ralph Reed. Since when does Georgia care if its elected officials are a national embarrassment?
At least we still have Sonny .
