Getting the Lead Out

WP leads today with the news that the EPA knew and alerted the D.C. Department of Health to the unsafe level of lead in District water back in November 2002; an EPA staffer wrote then that "fast action" was warranted. Before anyone gets too outraged, though, please remember that in D.C., anything that takes a year and a half to finishisfast action. The Redskins "rebuilding year" has lasted, what, a decade now? Let's just be thankful no one made the lead issue a "priority." That's what they said about a D.C. baseball team and you can see where that's gotten us. . .
