the health insurance industry better watch it. the doctors and hospitals are already super pissed at them. here's why. while doctors were risking their lives and working long shifts, and while hospitals were losing a shit ton of money because nobody was doing elective surgeries that they could put off, insurance companies were raking it in. nobody was going to a hospital or doctor unless it was life or death, so no money was going out, but nobody was cancelling their health insurance because they were terrified of COVID. the insurance companies didn't have to pay for people who ended up in the hospital with COVID because trump and his socialist pals picked up the tab for all that. in fact "the UnitedHealth Group’s net income during the second quarter grew from $3.4 billion in 2019 to $6.7 billion in 2020 and Anthem Inc’s net income increased from $1.1 billion to $2.3 billion." if the hospitals and doctors wanted to they could make life really difficult for the insurance companies, just give them a reason assholes
No, they'll, just do a lot more procedures that are more lucrative, maybe run a few unnecessary tests that they can get away with. And for those patients they can't turn away, they'll use less effective treatments. Did you know that you can use sugar to keep a wound from getting infected? They do that in jails and other places where they really have to be price-conscious. That is the beautiful future we can look forward to if people put single payer above patient outcomes, which is pretty much the official progressive stance.
Doctors and hospitals are not exactly on the same side. Most hospitals are run by non-medical people, and are either upfront for-profit, or back door for-profit (when the CEO of a 'non-profit' hospital system is earning $10 million/year and has a private jet, it ain't about charity). So hospital administrative costs have absolutely skyrocketed while physician pay has been whittled away at for years now, all while demanding more paperwork, more hours, and less autonomy. This is why I am my own boss, and Mr. BabsMD left his last job and went into private practice. Most of the time, it is doctors and other health care providers who are being cut - hospitals continue to rake in enormous "facility" fees that go straight into their pockets.
Anyway, not the post for all my thoughts on medical care in the USA. Suffice to say that while we might be on the same side as the hospitals in this particular skirmish (getting screwed by insurance companies during a fucking pandemic) we are NOT on the same side in the overall battle to provide efficient, economical, and EFFECTIVE health care.
That's exactly why they do it. They know the numbers. They know how many people won't bother or will give up. It's a win-win for them. Greedy assholes. May Karma never forget their names...
And all this depends on what plan you have. The company I work for uses United and I had to pay for an emergency room visit the year before last due to a nosebleed that wouldn't stop for 3 hours. They denied coverage because it wasn't an "accidental injury" or some shit. Basically, we don't have a "health plan", we have "accidental injury insurance". If I'm hit by a bus, I'm covered! Oh, and my deductible is $6k.
And disemploy all the poor rich insurance executives???? Have you no sense of decency?!?!

Have you driven out a Ford, lately?
But you didn’t say where exactly so now I’ve a bone to pick with you.
Tibia or not tibia...
Getting better but also because healthcare prevention and treatment is particularly biased against women. Especially BIPOC women.

The answer is ALWAYS nanobots!!!
Do they go to the same one as child molesters and people who talk at the theatre?
Enquiring Shepherds want to know.
Have any insurance companies said they would drop coverage or charge more to people who refuse the Covid vaccine ?
That's horrendous !
