Since Obama is a dictator and all, can we get an executive order disbanding the BSA leadership and appointing the Girl Scouts as a caretaker administration?
Beautifully said, and extremely relevant to the transgender inclusion theme, too. It turns out that LGBT kids are disproportionately represented among street kids, the ones who end up needing shelters and food because their families turned them out when they came out. Or they were so abused after coming out that they decided to run away and chance it on the street. And in that disproportionate representation, transgender kids are again overrepresented. Often these kids were kicked out by families because of the family's stated religious beliefs, or at least that's the justification used.
And. And a lot of the shelters are run by religious organizations, often enough the same ones that the birth families adhered to, and often enough these organizations have some extra requirements. And may have entry criteria, and those criteria may be protective of other kids (can't come in drunk or drugged up), or they may be said to be protective (can't come in if you're "cross-dressed" since that's preverted; can't come in if you're too swishy or too butch and the other kids might catch it). The disproportionately overrepresented TLGB kids are also disproportionately underserved by private charities.
The disproportionately high rates of suicide, violence, and drug use could be related, perhaps, possibly, maybe, but no doubt that's just their inherent moral weakness.

Talking about backfiring bigotry thingies, I can barely remember all the details (like exactly when it happened and where), but there was this time when a bunch of KKK 'fighters' decided to terrorize some native-Americans (can I say Indians?)... and were forced to run (into a swamp) for their lives! Or so they thought, all that the native-Americans wanted was to get rid (without going into murder territory) of those poseurs.Anyone has the when and where?
