At first I thought Glencore might be even better passes than Glenclose at Phish's Mondegreen.

Also, Bryan Adams is NOT metal.

When I read the headline I thought glencore was a musical subgenre of bands that play metal versions of Glen Campbell songs and that such bands were not well received by the audience at a headbanger festival.

I thought Glencore was the evolution of Normcore. I could even see the perfect example of Glencore in my mind, a white guy with a sorry haircut, unfortunately shaped eyeglasses and and ill-fitting button front shirt. Imagine my surprise

Come on, the lines

will reduce the most metal of metalheads to quivering jelly.

"The borrow fee on DJT shares (for selling short) continues to fall. Current quote is below 150%. Let's be clear, that is still insanely high and usurious, but it is what it is. It’s a market rate set by supply and demand.

DJT is now trading at $35.50 per share, which is 10x to 100x what it is worth in any rational evaluation. Ditto about supply and demand. [I keep saying this stock is worth about $.15 a share!]

If the borrow rate is a leading indicator of the stock price, DJT is headed into the $20s, on its way lower.

The “lower” borrow fee for shorting DJT is down from peak/panic rates of 600% to 800% just a few days ago. A speculator hoping to “farm” DJT stock and collect borrow fees to offset the risk will now receive about 50%-67% of the 150%, lets call it 100%. That is less than .33% of the equity value of the position per day. That’s below 10c per day per share -- a very poor risk/reward given the weakness of the DJT shares in the market now that the novelty and volatility has worn off."

Can anyone explain why the company wasn't forced to disclose all the information that came out after going public prior to going public? Is it just corruption? Are the rules governing SPACs just that bonkers? Do we have any regulations on trading that have teeth?

Expand full comment
Vagenda and Peeara's avatar

I was also surprised that the whole "we've got no subscribers, no money, and no hope for the future" was released after the stock went public. It's probably part of the SPAC rules, but who knows for sure?

One-company towns are the bane of Canada's north. When they are in business, they poison everyone, and the minute the price of whatever commodity they are ripping from the ground goes down, they leave, leaving nothing. No other work. People with homes they can't sell, small businesses they can't sustain. And for the most part, the company is subsidized by both provincial and federal government.

Resource-based economies are the shits for the people who actually extract the resources.

Non-experts, even lawyers, can make mistakes. One year we were paid $3,000 by Law and Order, Criminal Intent to use our apartment for three days to film a couple of scenes. I reported it as income, but an accountant later told me I didn’t have to report it because it was under two weeks.

Fake Marines. No medals or ribbons, not even a Pizza Stain. The last eligibility period for that one (GWOT) only ended fifteen months ago, all the non-coms would have definitely qualified. And one would expect that at least the two sergeants in an honor guard for a former President to have Good Conduct medals as well. Also, one of the guys on the end is not wearing his cover correctly, and we Marines are kinda anal about that.

That was just the first thing that I saw. Looking more closely there's tons of stuff that's wrong. No military alignment, misaligned insignia, the EGA's appear to be for officers, one alleged non-com is wearing a non-rate's buckle, and his cover clearly doesn't fit, and none of them are standing like Marines. It's possible that these guys are former military, but they ain't Marines.
