From what I'm hearing, the Suozzi folks are doing a lot of voter outreach while the Pilip campaign is doing just about nothing at all to contact voters, so that's encouraging!

I was a little taken aback by a county having a legislature but then I look it up and it's part of Long Island. Yep, more people live in that county than both the shitty mid-west states I've lived in combined. A legislature is definitely warranted.

Yep - Long Island (meaning Nassau and Suffolk counties only - we don't count NYC boroughs as being part of the island) has almost half of NY state's total population.... and we've got legislatures in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties, in addition to the NY state senate and assembly and a bunch of Congresstwits, as well as town councils for each of the townships in each county.

You would think we might feel well-governed as a result of all of these elected officials.

You would be wrong.

"One thing members of the GOP all have in common: When reality is not looking good for you, just make up your own, and then con someone else into paying for it!"

That right there is exactly the sort of factual journalism that the big outfits sorely lack- none of that mealy-mouthed "some say" malarkey, no "both sides" or "whataboutisms", not even a hint of a shadow of a false equivalency in sight, just the plain-spoken truth. This is the stuff we keep coming back to Wonkette for; real, actual journamalism written by and for awake, alert adults who prefer genuine "for the people, by the people" governance to sadistic clown shows intended to hypnotize the audience while the all-important Party lifts their wallets. Long live Ms. Jones and her dog, and may their shadows ever lengthen!

I am liking this "Marcie Jones" writer, if that is even her real name.

Don't think she lives up to the reputation of George "crucified, died and rose again for our sins" Santos though.

Give her time......she'll come around to the fabulist lifestyle...... these things have a way of working themselves out into the open......

Marcie & I must be related. I’m a B’mo homegirl who now Iives on Delmarva with my neurotic dog & our tiny Dem lady PAC got out over 1000 postcards for Suozzi. C’mon, Lucky 13th!

"... but the Third District has been redrawn since the 2020 Census, making it a tougher race for former incumbent Democrat Tom Suozzi, the Democrat who vacated the seat in an ill-advised run for governor..." WTF Suozzi? There has to be something in the water they use for the pizza crust in that district that consistently produces fabulist candidates.

The stealing money from veterans and letting dogs die thing is despicable. The graduating to running scams on GOP donors and having staffers impersonate other, more important, GOP reps' staffers for the purposes of leveraging and stealing from bigger GOP donors is *hilarious*.

The constituents in that district certainly do have odd tastes in political candidates.

I actually dated a former Israeli paratrooper.

He's an orthopedic surgeon now who specializes in ankle injuries, (I wonder why?!).

Dad loved him, and called him "Superman."

But he was pretty conservative, and that's a deal-breaker for me.

I knew someone who washed out of ...I want to say Coast Guard? not National Guard, rescue school after breaking both ankles in a heli jump training exercise. The VA paperwork was rough.

My husband fell off a roof and broke both ankles, his foot and his knee and even without the VA paperwork (not a vet) it was rough. I cannot imagine having to deal with the VA to boot (no pun intended).

I've been writing postcards to voters in that district until my hand cramps. Still, I have a thing for fancy pens so I might as well use them!

There is no disgrace in being an armorer (“gunsmith”? Really?) for the Paratroop Brigade, but don’t claim to be a paratrooper. I was a tank crewman in the IDF, I don’t claim to be a Sayyeret MaTKa”L (rough equivalent of the Green Berets) commando, FFS.

It is exactly THAT sort of stodgy, stick-to-the-facts c.v. that will keep you from success in today's new streamlined, aerodynamic and fact-free Republican Party. Dare to dream big, and then report your dreams as fact. why not? Nobody is looking.

OT: How's the dog thing going?

Called the Humane Society, got some links for boarding and fostering. My MIL can maybe take the small disabled dog, at least short term. The neighbor across the courtyard is the cousin of my BiL’s ex, and she has permission to have dogs in her place. The Missus is going to ask her if she can take the Shiba.
