I remember when it was Jerry Ford's district -- the Fabulous Fifth. The Dutch were alright when I lived there in the late 60s -- conservative as hell, but otherwise easy-going and friendly for the most part. They were kind of obsessive about certain things though. They were the only people I ever knew who would climb up and scrub down the roofs of their houses every spring. Stuff like that, but hey, it was their thing not mine, and so what, different strokes and all that. You just had to take care not to let them find out that you were Catholic. Or from Detroit. Or a Democrat.
