GOP Reps Under Investigation For Assaulting Capitol Police, Gun Stuff, TOTALLY NORMAL.

'The enemy is inside the House of Representatives,' said Nancy Pelosi.

Weeks ago, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made some news when she said that "the enemy is inside the House of Representatives." That was not very "unity," Madam Speaker!, according to idiots. But Pelosi explained that she was talking specifically about members who insist on carrying guns on the House floor, despite the rules and large fines the House has now instituted against it. By the way, it's not weird or "tyranny" for an American workplace to ban its employees from packing heat, despite how America's most seditionist congressmen like to scream otherwise. Pelosi said she was also talking about members of Congress who have "threatened violence" against other members.

Well, now two GOP members of the House are under investigation by the Capitol Police for behavior that would seem to relate to Pelosi's comments, including possibly a member assaulting a Capitol Police officer. We know, because Republicans have shown us, that blue lives really don't matter to Republicans unless they're using them to score political points against Democrats, but this is still pretty gross.

HuffPost reports on the investigations into two incidents, both of which its reporters witnessed:

The U.S. Capitol Police are investigating two incidents related to the new metal detectors set up outside the House chamber: one involving a member of Congress potentially assaulting a police officer and the other involving a lawmaker trying to bring a gun onto the House floor. [...]

On Jan. 12, the night of the first votes after the U.S. Capitol insurrection and the decision to put magnetometers outside the House chamber, HuffPost observed Rep. Russ Fulcher (R-Idaho) roughly push his way past an officer who was operating the metal detectors. The best way to describe what Fulcher did was he "manhandled" the officer, a Black woman who was significantly smaller than the congressman.

Fulcher set off the magnetometer that night, and the officer inadvertently seemed to get in his way as he tried to rush past her. But what started as one of those dances you do with someone when you both zig and zag as you try to get around each other, ended as a physical interaction. Fulcher grabbed the officer with both hands and pushed past her roughly.

Wow, he seems nice, manhandling a Capitol Police officer who just happens to be a Black woman, allegedly. Fulcher, of course, was one of the many GOP reps who continued to push Trump's Big Lie about winning an election he lost, even after the Capitol terrorist attack was over, voting to object to the certification of President Joe Biden's Electoral College win.

If you see something, say something, we guess. HuffPost clarifies, though, that its reporting wasn't what caused the Capitol Police investigation into this incident, or the second incident, which happened on January 21:

Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) tried to bring a gun onto the House floor . HuffPost also observed and publicly reported on that incident and was a material witness to Harris trying to get another member who had just left the floor to hold his gun for him while Harris voted.

Harris went through the magnetometer that day, set off the machine and then complied with a search with a metal detector wand. The police officer conducting the search located a gun on Harris's side and had a hushed conversation with the congressman. Harris quickly turned back to the elevators, stood around for a moment in a small vestibule outside of the elevator banks and had another quiet conversation with a member. Harris's comments were not audible, but HuffPost heard Rep. John Katko (R-N.Y.) reply, "I don't have a license for that."

At issue, apparently, is that the gun was concealed. HuffPost notes that while guns are banned on the House floor, reps can carry them on the surrounding campus, and that DC also has special conceal-carry requirements. But we are sure this is also tyranny somehow for Harris, who also voted after the Capitol attack to keep pushing Trump's big lie.

"The enemy is within the House of Representatives," said Pelosi.

Sounds like she was right about that.
