Add @Thomas Mills to your required reading. His Politics NC substack recently featured yet another story about our feckless Senator, Thom Tillis. Here's the link: Thom Tillis: Standing up for what's wrong, https://substack.com/home/post/p-155704367
After the vote, a reporter tweeted on Elon Musk’s propaganda platform, “Overheard at the Capitol for the Hegseth vote: “So many of these guys want to be John McCain but ultimately they’re just Thom Tillis.’”
Tillis has a long history of posturing as if he’s going to take a tough stance against Donald Trump, but he always folds like a cheap suit. I’m not sure why political reporters still pay attention to him, but the North Carolina Senator keeps some people in suspense. Not those of us who have followed his career, but people who are just tuning into his “I’m a very serious person” routine.
As a North Carolinian I want to say that's some pretty loose language there. We've always thought of him as a good old fashioned piece of shit, which I think captures it better because it makes it more a matter of character. Being a coward in this instance, for example, is an action or event and refers to something he's done. He's done a good thing or two in his day but it doesn't lessen his larger poop status. Pieces of shit sometimes do something decent because it provides cover and deniability.
This is part of their cunning and reveals a desire to stay in positions where they can realize more evil efficacy over time. We in NC will claim to rival anyone in corruption and degeneracy. Consider Cawthorn. Mark Meadows. Robinson, my God. And now that guy, Jefferson Griffin, who wants to be a State Supreme Court Justice, of all things, by simply openly stealing it. We can rival any state and claim some expertise. Perhaps it relates to all the hog farms, I don't know, and those lagoons.
Thom Tillis like the fecal matter floating? in those pig shit lagoons; or would he sink to the bottom? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for your post and keep up the good work!
The horrible fact is that in Wash DC, pieces of shit frequently float to the surface. I think they're called a Potomac River whitefish. So being nominated as SecDef in the newly installed proctocracy is just a natural progression for Hogsbreath. Maddy Cawthorn could have had a notorious career, like Matt Gaetz or one of the Murdaugh boys, if he hadn't trashed his body by being a blithering idiot.
Welcome to North Carolina, y'all! (And our heartbreak. Tillis was supposedly going to be a one-term senator if he couldn't get prison reform through, and, uh....)
I hope so. It was a huge relief to have him as NC governor during Covid. I watched the first Felon 45 Covid briefing in March 2020, was appalled at the behavior of the president and vice-president. Afterwards I watched only the NC Covid updates, with Gov Cooper, NC HHS Director Dr Mandy Cohen, and NC Emergency Management Director Mike Sprayberry. They were calm and sane leaders during an awful time. Gov Cooper will be a great US Senator if he chooses to run.
Your state Democratic director is doing a great job
Please share that some of us are really trying to mobilize our NC friends since we know how messy the vote suppression is from the Confederate Republican legislative supermajority down there
Thom Tillis is a coward, a liar, and a traitor. https://trumpscene.com/thom-tillis-coward-liar-traitor/

"Mitch McConnell walked down the aisle and, like a dearly departed John McCain, stuck his thumb down and his dick in Trump’s eye."

Listen, I love schadenfreude as much as the next person, but this particular mental picture was too high a price to pay.
"[U]nless a white Republican man personally witnesses abuse and confirms it publicly... When they do, they're bragging about it.
Not making excuses, but it appears that he was seriously threatened both politically and physically.
Hegseth isn't the worst one either. This Cabinet could be mistaken for a chain gang.
I give up. Point out one Republican who isn’t a bastard.
I believe there are a few dead ones.
“What happened today will make women who have experienced abuse and mistreatment even less forthcoming”
Danielle, The GOP are liars.
this is exactly what they wanted...
Tillis seems to lack a lot of foresight and judgement. Not really needed these days anyway.

I think Tillis is unflushable.

Ta, Evan. I had to erase what I wrote, it was inviting the hammer of ban.
GOP, Grifters Only Party, Reps and Senators, are all feckless Cowards! Let them Rot in Rot Wing Hell!
Greedy Oinkers Party.

North Carolinian here. Thanks for providing yet another great reason to boot Tillis out of the Senate in 2026.
You all going to run Roy Cooper?
I mean, assuming you still have elections
