It's been amazing to watch the price of gold. It's been plummeting for about two months now, almost ten percent. It took a turn upward, just today, of about one percent.
I'm not a gold bug. But I bought some as a hedge, not much, but enough to keep my eye on the price, because I'd like the price to go down and buy some more. But I have yet to hear any explanation that in a time of economic INSANITY we are experiencing, the price of gold would go down. Only one I heard makes SOME sense:
Interest rates are rising, and the short term interest rates are now higher than the long term rates. So...people are buying short term bonds, but maybe not taking their money out of stocks and companies, but buy selling their gold holdings. But who knows?
Destroying Western civilization will lead to one eventual result, one that I'm not sure that anyone but the CEOs would approve: A two-class system and the New Feudalism. All those middle managers and blue collar workers have no idea what they are creating when they believe and vote for these lies.

This has been going on since 1994. That was the last significant tax HIKE, by a Democratic President and Congress. In its wake we saw the biggest economic boom in our nation's history, possibly only eclipsed by WW II.
When Bush put it all back in your, er, HIS pocket, that was the beginning of the end. Since then, raising taxes is akin to treason. The only tax hike I am aware of was when Obama allowed SOME of the Bush tax cuts to lapse. This is now religious dogma even among Democrats, and these tax cuts have cut into the bone and down to the marrow. The IRS is a shambles of its former self, having been demonized and its budgets cut.
If the Clinton Democratic tax hikes had never been kneecapped by the stolen election of 2000, the deficit would be GONE. No $20 trillion rat hole. And we know where all that money went. Yes, we know.
Any business, let alone nation, that keeps slashing its revenue and increasing its expenditures would have gone bankrupt decades ago. The deficit only goes up during Republican administrations, if you look at the charts, except Obama, under whom the RATE of the increase in the deficit was slowed. But never reversed.
In conclusion: Republicans are traitors to our nation, our people, everyone except the rich. Trump is getting his Republican policies implemented on steroids, by the most corrupt administration in our history. He was put in power by a Russian spy and Trump is well on his way to destroying EVERYTHING--all Western civilization, its foundations, its partnerships, its defenses.
I have a friend who is a social worker in Colorado and she is very much with you on this. Again, the RWNJ wingnutosphere is perpetuating the idea that cannabis cures cancer and can substitute for all psych drugs. In addition a psychiatrist friend has always had difficulty in getting her VA clients to take their prescribed meds. They don’t want “chemicals” in their system but continue to do meth. 🙁
Lady MS, plagued since childhood w/ADD (known back-in-the-day as 'you're such a scatterbrain!'), can still hold two thoughts at once, now and then. (D)s MUST relentlessly hammer home that every fucking cockamamie notion this admin espouses is coming directly out of the pocket of every lower-middle-and-even-upper-middle class voter in this country. From corporate tax cuts, to Space Force, to trade debacles, to immigration goatscrew, to Cheeto's golf trips and masturbatory parade this fall. Not one of these notions serves our interests, and the bill comes due in the form of (R) 2019 budget and YUUUGE debt down the road which, as always, will fall upon/be blamed on the (D)s who have to clean it up...case in point, near-global meltdown in last months of Bush II.
