“Donald Trump wants this chaos. He wants confusion, and yes, he wants more violence on our streets. We cannot give him what he wants."

No Americans are "giving Trump what he wants." That's silly talk by the governor. Trump isn't relying on "chaos" to create chaos. He's creating violence and chaos out of thin air. It reeks slightly of Waltz blaming the victim. There is nothing Minnesotans and Americans can do to prevent a murderous fascist from murdering them.

RRJKR's avatar

The point is that Trump desperately needs to have a "national emergency" so he can declare martial law and suspend elections indefinitely The midterms can't happen!!

Ari Chase-Ramos's avatar

He doesn't need anything to happen to do that. He violates the law all the time for no reason. He'll just tell Big Balls to smash his face into a concrete wall again and pretend he was attacked by lesbians in Hondas.

Ta, Dok. When I think about what a great veep Walz would have been, I want to weep. I'm grateful for the video, ya Jeeze.

Walz and Frey should simply ignore the subpoenas. If asked, they can say, “Jim Jordan.”

Trump might just "Maduro" them

BREAKING NEWS:

Republicans Worry Acts of Violence, Cruelty, and Vengeance Will Be Seen As Acts of Violence, Cruelty, and Vengeance

Erisian's avatar

"it is a campaign of organized brutality against the people of Minnesota by our own federal government.”

DOJ's Birkenau Barbie is exceedingly pissed that six federal prosecutors quit rather than be part of the rampant asshattery of the DOJ and DHS:

> "Attorney General Pam Bondi lashed out at six federal prosecutors who reportedly resigned after refusing to prosecute the widow of Renee Nicole Good, the Minnesota woman killed last week by an ICE officer.

“We had six prosecutors who suddenly decided they didn’t want to support the men and women in ICE,” said Bondi, as she visibly fumed Thursday on Fox News’ “Hannity.” “One of them was busy doing a photo shoot with The New York Times while ICE was out there risking their lives.” https://www.huffpost.com/entry/pam-bondi-prosecutors-quit-renee-good_n_69690cb5e4b0774cc19f404a

--and--

> "Six career federal prosecutors don’t just walk away from their jobs lightly. Especially not people who’ve spent decades inside the Justice Department, handling some of the most complex fraud cases in the country. So when six prosecutors in Minnesota resign in a single day, there’s a problem.

At the center of this is the killing of Renee Nicole Good, a Minneapolis woman shot by an ICE agent. In moments like this, the expectation is straightforward: you investigate the use of deadly force, transparently, independently and with the goal of determining whether the law was followed. That’s how trust is built. Instead, the Justice Department chose to forgo a civil rights investigation into the shooting — a decision so alarming that several career prosecutors in the Civil Rights Division in Washington resigned in protest." https://thehill.com/opinion/lindseys-lens/5689158-minneapolis-ice-agent-resignation/

“Accountability is coming, at the voting booth and in court."

I can't express my joy at hearing Gov Walz talk accountability over the Fulvous Fuckwad talking about affordability... he's totally, completely, indubitably ignorant of what the word means (the same applies to accountability).

Imagine how different a year we would have experienced with President Harris and Vice President Walz instead of King Demented the Orange.

I dunno Hank. When Trump dies or is consigned to a memory care unit or any other 25th Amendment cause. Vance will be our next President but he won't enjoy his short tenure since the so-called hillbilly is HATED BY EVERYONE ON THE PLANET!!

OT - I'm sure this was probably shared somewhere here earlier, but I'm just now reading about it. I hope the staff at least took a piss (or worse) in their food before they served them.

ICE agents ate meal at a Minnesota Mexican restaurant – then arrested the staff who worked there

https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/ice-arrest-minnesota-mexican-restaurant-b2902000.html

If I remember my forebears correctly, they'll get REAL Minnesota food soon and graciously served.

And they could live to remember the meal.

Noma Larkey's avatar

I'm hoping they get a taste of the North's version of Minny Jackson's chocolate pie at some point.

These racists like Mexican food, just not "Mexicans".

People who live in Mpls/St Paul metro don't actually have this strong an accent, but this lady still makes me miss my home town.

Dina's avatar

I know, I was thinking the same thing. I know a few older (a lot older than I am, I'll clarify) Minnesotans who talk that way, and I've often wondered if it's because they came from homes where their parents had strong Scandinavian accents and thus, the "Minnesota accent" was born. I know I don't talk that way (born and raised Minnesotan) and I know very few people who do. My own mom (in her 80s) will slip into the "oh, ya" a bit but even HER accent isn't as pronounced as this woman's.

And yes, it makes me miss home, too.

They also really played it up a lot in the movie Fargo, giving everyone the impression that it’s ubiquitous across both states. I only ever encountered it in more rural areas, never among city or urban dwellers. You don’t hear that from, say, Amy Klobuchar. There is something of an accent, and I retained mine for many years after I left - every now and again it still slips out, but it’s more subtle. The caricature does have a down-home charm, it just isn’t the reality for most people there.

rawrtigerlily's avatar

Oh sure, donchya know?

Most of my extended family lives about 45 minutes out of the TC, and even there you can hear a wide range of severity in the accent. Older people & those who work locally have a stronger accent, those commuting into the city for decades have dialed it back.

I Stedman's avatar

"Impersonating a police officer" would be an excellent place for the local cops to start.

rawrtigerlily's avatar

Also saw a report that ICE might be using a different smoke bomb chemical, that is potentially banned for military & police use…

So wouldn’t that be a war crime against our own citizens?

I Stedman's avatar

Could be. But who's gonna prosecute? Pam Bondi's DOJ? Ha. Ha. Ha.

Where do ya go when the cops won't follow the law?

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

Would also accept "impersonating a well-rounded human person"

I Stedman's avatar

That, possibly unfortunately, is not a crime.

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

Not legally, sure. But definitely in the "against humanity" sense.

I Stedman's avatar

Disagree a bit there. It is quite possible to be a not-entirely well-rounded person and not be a vindictive asshole - see any Star Trek convention. Most there mean well and are largely harmless in the larger scope of things.

This cannot be said for those who wish to be cops and enjoy 'enforcing the law' against anyone who isn't 'one of their own'. They have conventions too.

Things are not good here in Minnesota. I was at a brewpub last night and talked to the proprietress. She says most Mexican restaurants and bodegas are shut down, and it is spreading to all the hospitality industries, all of which have back rooms full of Latino workers. It really feels like a state of siege. Fuck these fascists and their ICE Einsatzgruppen to the moon and back.
