There are nations where children are born into and grow up in environments where this is normal. That is not and never will be America. I'm truly amazed at protestors' ability to avoid fighting violence with violence. My heart is with each and every one of them. I feel immense pride as an American with each scene of masses of people marching and chanting in protest. I feel intense anger at each scene of "men," who refuse to identify themselves, attacking people who want only what we all want. The victims desire only to take care of their loved ones and themselves, and to accept the promises of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Another quick note about NC - many of the reddest counties, in rural areas, have substantial immigrant populations. It’ll be interesting to see if ICE fans out across the state and what people do. BTW, we just got word that the goons are in Raleigh and out on the streets tomorrow.

We're supposed to be traveling to Charlotte on Sunday, & will be there for the week over Thanksgiving. I already told the spousal unit that I will be getting involved/filming if I see anything go down, but I promised to stay as physically away from things as possible (I'm already disabled & can't really run from thug-booted assholes well) & to try to not get arrested.
I'm particularly nervous for our friends that live in Charlotte, that we planned on visiting while down there. They have US citizenship, but they're originally from EL Salvador & are Jewish, & I really really hope that they aren't fucked with. I'm very worried for them.

They're working for the local builders and getting paid cash under the table to not tip off ICE and the IRS.
