I would like to say that wide-scale interruptions of SS payments is the thing that will finally enrage people and turn them against our homegrown fascists. But you know what? That's exactly what I thought when abortion was outlawed. And what happened? The Republicans just blithely blew off any responsibility for that (when they didn't outright cheer about it), and people let them get away with it. So who the fuck knows if even an SS stoppage would finally rouse this idiotic country.
This is terrifying. And who the hell can "save" in anticipation of the shit hitting the fan when they're already on a fixed income and a razor-thin budget?
1) The Federal workforce has not grown in over 50 years.
2) 20% of the Federal workforce are veterans.
3) There is a reason that the first firings were to get rid of all the people who would point out that you are not saving money and are in fact encouraging corruption.
Since the population is 160% of what it was in 1974, that means federal workers are much more efficient than they were 50 years ago. Why has no one pointed that out?
They have been, which is why I have the numbers. Of course, the rise in efficiency has a ton to do with computerization over that time period, but that doesn't keep up with everything, which is why it has been long noted that the Federal workforce is understaffed and still does an amazing job despite all of that.
Now we will see just how terrible it is when we go from understaffed to barely staffed.

If our system is sooo flawed and corrupt. Why did Musk come here to start his businesses? Why didn't he stay in South Africa or Canada?
