NO rights are unconditional, and with All rights come responsibilities. Perhaps we should not only talk about the rights of gun owners, but also the responsibilities of gun owners. Your rights of freedom of expression, religion and assembly are all conditioned, so why shouldn't your right to keep and bear arms be likewise conditioned?. We need to stop being childish about guns. They are not toys, they are dangerous tools and people who own them should be able to demonstrate that they are capable of handling them safely with no intention of using them maliciously to harm their fellow citizens What we need are not "gun laws" but rather "gun owner laws"

The intent and purpose of the Second Amendment is plainly stated. It was designed to give the lawful government the ability to quickly muster a defensive force in the event of foreign invasion in a time when there was no large standing Army. That was the primary reason it was included. The idea has it's roots in English Common Law and predates the Constitution by hundreds of years.. The secondary purposes of self defense and hunting for food were so common in the 18th century that they weren't even mentioned. There wasn't much in the way of police forces and game animals made up a large part of the average person's diet. Times have changed. so perhaps our attitude towards the Second Amendment needs to be updated.

I'm sure it doesn't, but Scalise should mean "blockhead" in Italian. I mean as in so stupid you can literally shoot him and he still doesn't get the point. Che cafone!

Rule number one: Use the word "regulation(s)" and do not talk about gun "law(s)".

We could regulate guns with regulations that allow people to own their high capacity magazines but no more new sales of any weapons that carry more than 10 rounds. Possession and or use of a magazine and gun that can fire more than 10 rounds without reloading would be a federal offense with 5 years to life (depending on whether the gun was used in a crime); and ownership of such weapons would require military training. There should also be regulations limiting the diameter of the bullets.

Okay, giant sniper rifles with huge scopes and giant suppressors on the end of the barrel look cool and all, but why should they be available for purchase to just anyone? If you're going to tell me you want it for hunting elk or whatever, just get a damned hunting rifle.

We have to get kids more engaged in alerting authorities if they see something that they are concerned about and let the authorities take action, if necessary.Except that as the link in this morning's tabs show, the "authorities" (in the form of the local cops) aren't likely to do anything that'll require any effort or risk on their part. Their approach is more likely to be wait until they start shooting and then run out of bullets, then shoot them.

Yeah, call the authorities. The kids were calling 911 in the classroom for better'n an hour while their classmates were bleeding out next to them. And the cops were in the hall too chicken shit to do their job. Right wing scuzzfuck talking points indicate comatose brain activity, call me "woke" but.

I can get a rifle in Japan for hunting that has the ability to shoot three bullets before reloading. If I even get a chance to shoot a second time I may need the third bullet for the kill. But that is the way these non-Christians think.

"hardening schools" — you're living in a developed, a civilised country. The idea that you need to fortify schools is bizarre. What's next? Palisades, battlements?
