Well, gosharooties! We can't reconvene that congress thingie dingie in November! Those congressmen might catch cold! We can't send that tainted money to you, it's the root of all evil! But we in congress done something even better for you! We've authorized funds to send each and every one of you a bootstrap you can pull yourself up with!
These disasters are smack in deep red Trump country. Johnson will refuse to reconvene to extend FEMA funding so Felonious Fuckhead can pretend Biden's administration is unilaterally withholding aid like Foolius threatened during his dark reign when California was burning. He'll barf out some slop about Cacklin' Kamala giving 'their' money to whichever non-White boogeyman he can remember how to pronounce or some shit.
I feel bad for everyone affected by the disaster, but I suspect they'll believe him.

I hate that it's going to go most of this way unless and until Dems make it very VERY clear in the MSM (which will at first refuse to air its messages) exactly who is being the miser here refusing to authorize funding.

Speaker Covenant Eyes will go down as one of the worst in history. And of course, through his inaction and his inability to herd his asshole unreconstructed caucus, it just proves the law:
All Republicans offer you are dead bodies and hatred.
But then disaster wouldn't have come to pass, and the naysayers would be busy with their "I told you so's". There is no pleasing those kind of awful or misguided people.
Ironic cause FEMA seems to deal with areas in mostly Red States. You'd think the MAGAts in the House would do their best to keep FEMA well funded to deal with the dangerous effects of man made climate change they pretend with all their might that doesn't exist if they cared about their constituents like they claim.
No they voted against funding FEMA instead. They like to claim victories for their voters, while actually they have voted against the very thing they're shouting about.
Let us not forget that on September 25, 2024, Congress passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 20 - averting a shut-down. Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida on September 26. 18 Republican Senators voted against it, including Marsha Blackburn, TN, Ted Budd, N.C, Tim Scott, S.C. JD Vance and Tim Scott of FL did not cast a vote. 82 House members, all Republican, voted against it, including 6 members from FL. Matt Gaetz, whose district was the site of landfall, voted AGAINST it. Marjorie Taylor-Greene of GA voted against it.
A review of Trump’s record by POLITICO’s E&E News and interviews with two former Trump White House officials show that the former president was flagrantly partisan at times in response to disasters and on at least three occasions hesitated to give disaster aid to areas he considered politically hostile or ordered special treatment for pro-Trump states.
Mark Harvey, who was Trump’s senior director for resilience policy on the National Security Council staff, told E&E News on Wednesday that Trump initially refused to approve disaster aid for California after deadly wildfires in 2018 because of the state’s Democratic leanings.
But Harvey said Trump changed his mind after Harvey pulled voting results to show him that heavily damaged Orange County, California, had more Trump supporters than the entire state of Iowa, Harvey said.
For all his other faults, the owner of the Patriots flew in a bunch of supplies top Mass. It was met by armed staters to prevent any JarJar inspired seizure.
But his security detail is getting in FEMA's way and wasting resources. Frankly, any money spent on keeping his corpulent mass of stupidity and shit still animate is a gross waste of resources. Send him to a toxic waste dump.

It's not like Louisiana is ever likely to be hit by a hurricane... oh... wait...

Not the Black people.
Wouldn't new tax cuts for billionaires help victims of Helene? I know Mike Johnson would get the gang back together for that.

Higher taxes and fees too! (Provided they're not among the top 2%, no higher taxes for them! Those would be "punitive"!)
Imagine if we had put money, decades ago, into dealing with climate change.
But then disaster wouldn't have come to pass, and the naysayers would be busy with their "I told you so's". There is no pleasing those kind of awful or misguided people.
LOL, nah.

Project 25 gets rid of FEMA I think.
Gets rid of NOAA. It's the "head in the sand" approach favored by cynical bastards.
It does not. It hamstrings it by reducing it's budget, reallocating items it doesn't reduce ,etc.
But it doesn't recommend eliminating the agency entirely.
underfund it enough so it can't do what it was created to do, and then Republicans can eliminate because it doesn't work.
They've been trying that with the Post Office for decades with that stupid "fully fund a new hire's pension on Day 1" bullshit. But it hasn't worked.
They actually did away with that with the last postal reform bill. Finally.
See? I like the record to be corrected.
Safety and security cost them profit, AND they can always blame Democrats and/or racial minorities.
You’re too logical my friend. They vote against their constituents’ self-interest all the time.
Where is Maddy Cawthorn? He's a denizen of West Carolina. Any chance he got flooded out and drowned? Hope springs eternal!
He's probably snorting blow off a hooker's tits in Vegas.
That's mean. Tough guy on wheels Maddy presumably shot the flood waters dead with his AR-15.
Bad move. Everyone knows that the Sharpie is mightier than the AR-15.

Wow, so not being able to put together a proper budget and just spending what they spent 2 years ago has consequences? Whoda thunk it.

Any Republican bitching about the response of the Biden Administration needs to have their record made public. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2024/09/25/senate-vote-results-government-shutdown-bill-cr/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2024/09/25/house-vote-results-government-shutdown-bill-cr/
Trump: Blue states can die:
E&E News by Politico reported:
A review of Trump’s record by POLITICO’s E&E News and interviews with two former Trump White House officials show that the former president was flagrantly partisan at times in response to disasters and on at least three occasions hesitated to give disaster aid to areas he considered politically hostile or ordered special treatment for pro-Trump states.

where the fuck was politico while that was going on? We already knew this.
It was proved at the time. Hell, he said it with his fucking mouth.
Just the press pretending it was not complicitly ignoring this shit the entire time
Not to mention the way he and Jared planned to let blue states drown in Covid at the beginning of the pandemic...
Then stole PPE and made them bid for it like a sunday auction
The (gop) gov of Maryland sneaked in PPE for his own state so the feds did not steal it for cryin out loud
I think J.B. Pritzker had to do some sort of action-movie caper to assure a shipment of PPE for Illinois.
He used an underutilized airport somewhere in the state. Since it was reported in St. Louis it might have been Belleville.
For all his other faults, the owner of the Patriots flew in a bunch of supplies top Mass. It was met by armed staters to prevent any JarJar inspired seizure.
They are wasting money on security for a single fat orange man in Florida. Tell him to stay indoors till November and use the money properly.
That's not FEMA.
But his security detail is getting in FEMA's way and wasting resources. Frankly, any money spent on keeping his corpulent mass of stupidity and shit still animate is a gross waste of resources. Send him to a toxic waste dump.
Video games and Red Bull.
When we had hurricane damage in Florida FEMA offered to loan us money. At a much higher interest rate than we could have gotten from a bank.
Someone prolly redacted the place in the Bibble where Xtians weren't supposed to engage in usury.
FEMA is going to need a LOT of funding, until we wake the fuck up and actually do something to mitigate climate damage going forward.
FEMA's going to need a lot of funding forever.
Because, in many ways, the climate clusterfuck upside down cake is already baked.
Talk about breaking norms! WHERE ARE THE PAPER TOWELS KAMALA!?!?!?!?!
