Thanks Robyn! As a chubby little girl, I wanted so badly to be Gwen, but couldn't master ballet. By the time Madonna showed we didn't have to, it was too late. But my love persists.

Dating site is running an ad about finding the one ‘that gets you’. That was Fosse & Verdon. Yet, before I fell absolutely in love with their style, I used to stand in front of my grandparents’ TV and try to emulate the peerless moves of the Peter Gennaro dancers on the Perry Como Show. He was Fosse before Fosse was cool.

If you haven't seen Foose, executive produced by LMM with Sam Rockwell (who has a new movie I just saw the preview for) and Michelle Williams, you're missing out 😊

Thank you Robyn! I adore Bob Fosse's choreography and Miss Vernon was always fabulous. I remember Bebe Neuwirth explaining that much of Fosse's work was made up of tiny, nuanced, and precise moves that made a big impact. "All That Jazz" is a great example, with the shoulder rolls and hip and hand movements.

Neuwirth is a fabulosity herself and was WONDERFUL in Chicago.

Love, love, love, love Gwen Verdon in anything.

If you have access to it and an interest, the Fosse/Verdon mini series is VERY good.

Ta, Robyn. Gwen Verdon is a goddess of dance, and she could act, too. I'll always love her.

Good day, beloved Wonketteers. I love and appreciate you all and I bless us all with love, health, peace, and grace. Meccalopolis just got back from taking the dogs out (they behaved!) and we're sipping coffee and choosing songs from 1968 to play on A Jet Age Sound on wioxradio.org tonight.

Please, please stay safe. Wear a mask or two, wash your hands, sanitize when you cannot wash and let the sanitizer dry completely, stop touching your face, take Vitamin D, get one of the new vaccines, avoid indoor and crowded outdoor gatherings and when you must meet, remove masks only to eat, drink, and take quick photos, and stay the fuck away from me and everyone with whom you do not share a roof. Do this because you love yourself, and because I love you, too. Do this in memory of dear departed Treg among over seven million dead worldwide (with 1,500 Americans dying of COVID every week now). Do this to honor the nurses and other frontline medical personnel, especially ICU Hera Mrs Land Shark RN. Stay safe.

Slava Ukraini. 🌻🇺🇦💙💛

Two guitar malfunctions on this one. The switchover at 1:00 is professional AF, and the one starting at 5:10 slightly less so.

Hajahaha. I was fucking obsessed with Mexican Breakfast a few years ago. The art of the 'tiny gesture' in full force.

I looked and looked and looked for a quality 'print' of that segment because all the ones I found are terrible...if ANYONE can link me to a nice crisp copy of it I will owe you for life!!!!

But leave it to the BIg Plastic cartels to ruin that with their dreck.

Coldest we've seen it since we moved here in 2004. Coldest I've ever experienced. Wife lived here when she was a kid in the 70's, it was -30 several times. So she has me beat. Still cold AF.

Y'all. This is disconcerting, but I actually agree and empathize with Donald Trump about something. In his recent insane rambling about how he puts on his pants in the morning, he said he doesn't think about it, because if he thinks about it, he might not WANT to get up and put on his pants.

Although my existential dread doesn't stem from the possibility of facing the consequences of criminal behavior, I totally get not wanting to overthink getting up in the morning.

I'm transitioning to semi retirement. My ex-employer is supposed to be paying me to work part time from home for them. I intentionally put pants on in the morning like I'm going to work. I could easily do this in sweats bit, one, my office is in the basement which is hovering around 57F currently, and 2) my wife keeps ordering stuff so there's a delivery van appearing most days. Our basement is 'walk out' so I go out to say thanks and receive the shipment de jour and prefer not to look like some crazy weirdo living out in the sticks, even if I am.

Funny you should bring that up - I thought roughly the same thing when I heard it. Not that I feel that way personally, but I've been there. Except I don't own any pants (just skirts and dresses, in full compliance with Wonketariat rules even outside Wonkette hours), so I'd have to tweak the sentiment, but YES, I too have avoided thinking about shit because I had to get up and don the fabric coverings of my choice and get on with things.

It was a rare moment of him sharing normal human vulnerability. Very rare.

Tonight's dinner is going to be a chicken and ham pie with a side of peas (and maybe sweetcorn). I'm reducing the calories by using filo pastry rather than shortcrust for the lid, I'm also using low fat creme fraiche, and extra stock instead of wine in the cream sauce. It should end up being a relatively healthy meal.
