This is an absolutely *insane* story about a guy who took it on himself to root out homosexuals from the Navy in 1919, including paying sailors to seduce other men. They got dishonorably discharged, the guy behind it all of course had nothing happen to him.

Way to go Biden! The man is the best President of my lifetime. He deserves a re-election victory like Reagan in '84. We need to do our part to make it happen.

I provided Elder Care for an Army veteran’s “orphaned cousin” who lived with him everywhere he had been assigned. I hope they’ve since married and are celebrating this news with other couples they’ve known through the years.

I'm happy for this, but what's missing is some real leadership out of the Biden camp.

How about if he declares July to be National Don't Drink Drano Month?

So many of our problems would just sort themselves out. (With votes)

It isn't well-remembered these days, but the first thing Bill Clinton did when he took office was to support legislation to allow gays to serve openly in the military, no strings attached. Not only did he get shot down by Republican assholes like Jesse Helms, but also by RW Dems like Sam Nunn. DADT was the best they could salvage out of the rubble.

Geez, it was VP Biden that forced Obama's hand to accept that, yeah, maybe gay marriage is OK after all.

I recall an old episode of Skins where 2 gay Brit soldiers were married and wanted to adopt a little kid. But they noticed this loner looking quite sad, about 12 yrs old, a girl.

So they adopted her. She had a bad attitude, everyone kept bringing her back. She went but figured they would too.

She was trouble, cut school, wouldn't do chores, just moped around, had few friends.

The guys thought they were failing as parents, set up a meeting with a case worker.

Next day, they got a call from the principal. She had got into a fight, with boys.

They went down, in the hallway sat 3 boys with their parents. Girl inside the office.

Turns out the boys had been bullying her for a while for having gay fathers and today she

had quite enough. And beat the boys up. But 3 vs 1 so she got beat up too.

The guys, still in uniform, pretended to be shocked, but winked at the girl to say nothing and go along

with it. They apologized profusely to the principal, did big time military shit and called him "Sir" and promised to take care of the situation at home.

The principal quite impressed, said fine, but he still had to suspend her 5 days for fighting.

They thanked him and all 3 marched out the door and down the hall. I loled!

The parents waiting wondered wtf is the Army doing here?

They were next.

In the car on the way home one of the dads asked "5 days off eh? Who's up for a few at Brighton?"

Me, I think they found their daughter.

We had a gay sailor in my base in Japan in 1992 who was beaten to death in a men's room just off-base by two shipmates for his sexual orientation. They left the body behind in the urinal, where the Japanese found him. The Mayor was livid.

The two clowns were caught when they returned to base, their clothing covered with blood, so they didn't have much of a defense.

Now they are cracking big rocks into little ones at Leavenworth.

I wonder what they think now?

Two legitimate reasons for incarceration in my mind, to keep society safe, and rehabilitation. In the case of hate crimes I tend to lean on the former.

No cracks about prison rape and homosexuality. They are neither funny nor appropriate. In addition, military prisons are especially tough for discipline.

I am married to a balding, pot bellied child. The lawn is now far too long and becoming not just an embarrassment but an actual eyesore. I just repeatedly asked him if he's going to mow it or if we need to hire someone, but he's got his headphones on and is going out of his way to ignore me.

I resent the hell out of this sort of thing. It's just aggravating nonsense.

I bought a robot lawnmower 2 years ago as a somewhat lavish surprise. It is AWESOME and saves us so much time that we instead spend playing with the kids or doing something more enjoyable than mowing. Plus it's fun to watch the robot.

I'll sort it out in the morning. I'll just mow it myself. The only thing I have trouble with is emptying the bag into the yard waste bin; it's just a little bit too tall for me to be able to lift that stupid bag over the edge and empty it properly.

Does your mower have a mulch option? That's what we do (for the parts of the lawn the robot can't reach). Apparently it's better for lawn health also.

Went down a Youtube rabbit hole today and noticed Jo Jo Siwa performing at Pride events this month.

OMFG she are all growed up! 21 yrs old, a woman, singing and dancing in a rainbow themed skimpy outfit. I hadn't noticed her since I was in a Toys R Us about 10 years ago.

Shut down the shit talkers on Twitter with plenty use of the word fuck.

I knew Black gay men who fought in the segregated army of the United States. They were patriots.

Yes they were. It was segregated with separate units of Black, Japanese and Native Americans.

In Belgium, there is a memorial and cemetery adjacent to a buffalo ranch to honor the Native American unit that took huge losses in the war. THAT is what I call 'taking the high road.'
