I'll believe it when I see it. Although even then, it might take a while. I lived in MS for five years. They were the five worst years of my life. To be fair, after the first year it was for mostly personal reasons. Once my ex had me thousands of miles from family and friends, his abusive nature really came out. But I digress. MS folk are the most stuck in their ways people I've ever met. They are obsessed with their bibles and their guns. To be

a Democrat or, heaven forbid, an atheist there is to be an outcast. Obviously I'm speaking broadly. There are liberal folks there, as there are everywhere, but they are a tiny minority. I'd love to think that enough people would do the decent thing and dump Tate, but I just don't see it happening.

I decided to risk getting 8000 texts from every D running for every position in every state and threw $10 at Presley. Pleasantly surprised the $$ did not go through Act Blue so maybe they won't give my info out to anyone who asks. Also was able to do it without giving my phone number so yay! Noticed that nowhere on his website did it say he was one of those demoncrats which is probably better for his chances, but also he sounded same and qualified so who knows?

I was wondering if you would cover this. I have been watching it carefully. I have been to a couple of (Let's Go) Brandon's events. He has a really professional, national team and is charming, good at connecting with people, and witty. He's ready. I don't have my hopes up very high, but it is possible. I don't think he wins it by winning R voters; he wins it by turning out loads of Ds and the Rs staying home because they can't get excited about Tater.

if Reeves wins by just one vote, he'll claim mandate and will of the people as per usual.

DeSantis-Reeves 2028: “We have the charisma of a cold speculum (and Tate here has the worst combover ever) but we make Donald Trump look like a mountain of empathy and decorum. Vote for us. We hate the same people you hate even more than you do.”

All the cool kid governors are disqualifying "those" voters, Tater. All you have to do to win is cheat.

But in Mississippi, they've been lying and cheating since the day the "usurping pioneers" told some of my ancestors that a brisk walk across Arkansas during winter time not only be good for your cardio heath, plus you get your steps in. Outright hubris, especially with someone like Tate, can from time to time, corrode and damage even the most well oiled lying and cheating political machine.

Based on all the “Let’s go Brandon” signs and stickers all over Mississippi, Presley is a shoo-in.

The Ohio Republican Party is genuinely concerned that a portion of their electorate are "confused" about Issue 1 to allow abortion.

In August, the special election had Issue 1 as an amendment to require citizen-sponsored ballot issues to have 60% to pass. They inundated the rightwing mediasphere with "Vote Yes on Issue 1!"

Now, a few short months later, Issue 1 will allow abortion in the state, and the Party's screaming, "Vote No on Issue 1!"

And, apparently from their analysis, a great many of their supporters are unsure how to vote on that issue due to the conflicting messaging in such a short amount of time.

Republicans used to have one message that had broad appeal: they were the party of values. “Do you like Jesus? We like Jesus, too! We’re the God and country party of mom and apple pie, not like those lotharios like Bill Clinton.”

Trump pulled back the curtain and exposed the idea that republicans care about values as the lie that it is. Without their values message, republicans are just asshole who want to make grandma eat cat food and ban books.

OK, let's not involve food in our discourse, I happen to like lumpy mashed potatoes, we are divided enough as it is!

Democrats need to do better at their messaging, Republicans have so twisted our appearances that we are toxic, this just isn't true!

There isn't a single voter in the Republican base who learned anything about what Democrats believe or want to do with government from talking to a Democrat.

Does Tate Reeves have an actual thumb for a head? A thumb with oddly coiffed hair?

There’s a factory down south that clones republicans with that look.

They're provided there with short-sleeved dress shirts and metal-rimmed glasses. These items are not sold to left-wingers. according to an agreement signed by the Republican Party back in 1970.

You would be AMAZED at how many men in Mississippi wear their hair that way.

It's like they all want to be 2006 Justin Bieber.

I think it's called "The Trent" (a couple of doctors of color and I had a discussion in the doctors' lounge about southern hairstyles and one of them coined the term, suggesting a customer would sit in his barber's chair and say "Give me the Trent!" This was years ago when Trent forgot he wasn't at the Klan Meeting when he praised Strom Thurmond's segregationist policies at his going away party.)

Trent just spoke at my university this week, along with Tom Daschle. I missed it, but I guess they're on an odd-couple redemption tour or something.

I wish the DNC would put out commercials that say, "Here's why you should vote for Democrats" and then list all the issues on which these people really do agree with the Democratic position.

Don't say "vote for this person". Just say, "Democrats stand for things like 'health care is a right, not a privilege' and 'you women should have absolute control over your bodies' and 'the economy always does better when Democrats are in control' and maybe even 'only one party leader has ever invaded the wrong country and caused a million deaths and guess what? He wasn't a Democrat'".

OK, I got a little snarky at the end but you get the drift.

I think of this constantly, and of the man who threw all his votes to Bill Clinton-- I always forget his name. He bought an hour of tv or something, and he had actual charts!!! So great. He explained things! Our debt-- which didn't even matter. BUT imagine what fab RELEVANT charts could be used. So obvious but-- nobody does it. Instead we're hounded to death so candidaates 'can get their message out.' It's truly killing me.
