This whole situation reminds me of the anti-nuremberg defense: "I never actually killed anybody. I just told other people to do it. Is it my fault they did so? Sheesh! I can't be blamed because my minions were homicidal idiots!"

They keep saying "kinetic". I'm not sure they know what that means (by which I mean I'm almost 100% certain they DON'T know what that means.) Kinetics is the branch of physics that deals with objects in motion. For example, kinetic energy is the energy an object has due to its motion, given by the equation E = (1/2) X Mass X (Velocity squared), i.e. E=1/2mv^2 (which is hard to write without mathematical notation.) Anyone who has had introductory high school physics should be able to drag this out of the dark recesses of their brain.

I think to them, "kinetic" means cool, sciency word.

A kinetic weapon would be a plain, vanilla bullet, which kills and destroys things by hitting them very hard with a solid, fast moving object. But all the pictures, videos and illustrative cartoons should big bangy, boomy, flamey explosions, which bullets don't do unless they hit a gas tank or something. The turtle is shooting a bazooka from a helicopter. A bazooka is most definitely NOT a kinetic weapon. Neither is a mortar, a grenade or a 5" deck gun firing HE rounds. (Some bullets do contain explosives or incendiary chemicals, in which case they are also NOT primarily kinetic weapons.)

Of course, it could be the military has co-opted the word "kinetic" to mean "energetic" because it sounds more destructive.

First: I condemn attack and especially 'double tap' on survivors. Clear.

However: the strike is called above as on a 'fishing boat'

Anyone who knows about commercial or even sport fishing knows these are not that type.

Folks there was 50K USD of outboards on the back of a streamlined hull about six foot beam (width) This is not a prosperous part of the world. Note no cabin, which a sport fisher for this $ would have. The only point of that boat was to outrun almost anything afloat. The only reason: high value cargo.

Moving on: US forces in WWII were far from pure: In the OFFICIAL record of US subs, the captain surfaces and 'plinks' at Japanese survivors in the water including nurses. Number One disapproved and stayed below.

I've actually seen on US TV a video of a US soldier recounting fighting Hitler Youth in Battle of The Bulge. "They were vicious little bastards. They'd fight until they ran out of ammunition. Then we wasted them.'

This was more common than with British forces, who during the Blitz went through a '9 11' a week for six months. Canadians? Not as nice.

I must make note of a discrepancy in the timeline, notably at the end of the article.

Wouldn't it be more likely that Pete went home, pants-pissingly terrified, decided to ward off that utter terror overwhelming him with a cocktail, and, when that didn't work, take it out on the kids?

Trump fully supports the idea he had nothing to do with this whole mess.

Ta, Gary. I was working all day, once I traveled from Brooklyn for acupuncture to our FQHC in The Bronx. Murder on the high seas is *murder* no matter what the ass-covering assholes say.

No matter the chain of command input, ADM Bradley would have known killing those two was a war crime. So either he didn’t care, or he didn’t have control of the situation (i.e. one of his trigger-pullers acted on their own). In either case, he’s culpable. Just hope when he rots at Ft. Leavenworth he does so with Hegseth as a cellmate.

Oh, now Secretary Hipflask is saying he “didn’t stick around” for that 2nd order? Sounds legit!

Wow! It's just exactly as if she's doing, "be best."

Might want the credit/glory of "courage of conviction to the righteousness of the cause."

Seriously, me too, and a swipe at the pathetic, ridiculous, and horrifying with snark let's me find some mirth instead of rage. I hate that I have to hate these terrible people, so I'm more likely to try to have some fun at their expense. I do engage with a more recognizable sincerity some times.

Ya know, it's not impossible that he doesn't want to cover anything. There are a shocking array of people in a shocking spectrum of society, and the work thereof, who completely agree with the remaking of America (and preferably more), to $Trumpian undicernable (sp) philosophies, (not withstanding his overarching gimmeitis). Many of those perhaps find the listed instructions of the Heritage fuckers a clearer rallying point.

This could be the time for one who believes in the righteousness of the cause to "stand and deliver."

We’ve seen what Shitfaced’s testimony before Congress is like. If he’s relying on being able to bullshit his way through it, he’s fucked. He’s not nearly as telegenic as Oliver (Traitor) North and it’s not the 80s.

I too try to blame shit I did on other people, just yesterday I blamed the lovely Mrs. Goon for leaving the toilet seat up.
