John McCain is on cable news and Sunday morning talk shows more than anyone in the history of being on television, and sure, we've guessed it's because bookers at every single news channel cannot be bothered to ask Google for the name and number of anyone else in America. But now, per the
I'm not going to hang the Forrestal incident on him - that was the fault of the idiots with the brass hats who thought using WWII-era bombs that had been sitting in the open air of the tropics for 20 years was a good idea. And the deck crew who were under pressure to launch flights quickly and thus cut corners on safety, which allowed the Zuni rocket to fire and touch off the jet fuel.
They don't put any Comp B bombs on the Forrestal, the Forrestal doesn't go up in a ball of flames.
Watching McCain bully Jay Carney a couple nights ago with "Say that I'm right! Say you're sorry!", I was suprised he didn't have a coronary right there. He was full-on red-faced and shouty, and wouldn't let Carney get a word in edgewise.
That's the real John McCain. Not the persona he slips into on Sundays to be lobbed softball questions.
If John McCain had any sense of integrity, good judgement or honor (I know....), he would slink away, never to be heard from again - because: Sarah Fucking Palin.
“You’ll find this surprising, but I think I would have been more reluctant to commit American troops. I believe we had to go to Afghanistan. Anybody who believed after 9/11, and we knew the Taliban sheltered al-Qaida … we had to go to Afghanistan. No one believes — we had to go after them. [...]
It’s obvious now, in retrospect, that Saddam Hussein, though he had used weapons of mass destruction, did not have the inventory that we seemed to have evidence, which now looking back on it with benefit of some hindsight was very flimsy.”
There's some serious 'knowing stuff' going on in there. I think it has to do mostly with knowing where the grandkids hide their mary-g-wanna.
He's a war hero because he endured torture and refused an early release by his captors because of who his father was. I'm not going to write off his bravery 40 years ago because of who he has become in the present.
If you haven't read Tim Dickinson's EXTRAORDINARY 2008 article on the mythology around McCain, you should drop everything, call in to work sick, and do that right now. I never liked McCain, but this piece blew my freakin' mind. I still refer to it constantly. Read it. Senator McGrumpy is a very successful troll. He's not the only one of course but given his track record of wrong it's worth noting. I only keep track of his appearances in the vain hope that someday some talking head will show up in the studio raving drunk and hold his feet to the fire before suffering a pulmonary embolism.

He's a floor wax!
McCain is a carpetbagger fraud who sucked up to Charles Keating and was up to his ass in local Arizona corruption

If John's a Maverick, then Sarah must be a Pinto... with an explodey gas tank!

He knows what he is talking about.
Two words.
Sarah Palin.

Gosh, with such expert reasoning as Feist's, it's hard to know why CNN's ratings are so shitty.
McCain knowing what he's talking about is akin to knowing the difference between an ass and a hole in the ground.
There's still time to fix that!
