This is SO VERY MUCH WORSE than anyone in power can get a handle on! Trump is actually afraid of Musk - because Musk is about a hundred times richer, younger, smarter, and better looking (in a weird way.) Musk must be stopped in the next 30 days or we're done as a country.

What I want to know is where are all those "fiscal conservatives" in the House? Legally, they have the power of the purse but they are stepping back and giving that power to an unelected megalomaniac. Yes, yes there are the midterm elections but saying to wait for two years for this to play out is like giving the bad guy ammunition to bankrupt the USA within the next month.

Someone alluded to this below, but I'll float it again: what do you really think about a tax strike? Just people who write checks for their taxes, not those filing for a refund, of course. If you could do it, and we knew we had legal support, would you do it? A friend of mine just came up with this and we were just wondering how feasible it really would be (and if we had the courage ourselves.)

Do people not realize that the damage has already been done? He's had unfettered access to all that data for over 2 weeks now.

Here's a thought, have the bastard arrested for trespassing and data theft!

Granted, I was just a low level drone in the federal workforce but I'm confused how the hell these anarchists have been granted access to even walk into the government buildings much less tamper with the systems themselves. Where the f*ck are the checks and balances? How the hell was Musk given carte blanche to our country's money? It's only been a few weeks and look at the havoc that asshole is causing and we're letting him do it. My mind is boggled.

Trump let them in. What's left of his brain is dazzled by the promise, or rather the promises, of Musk's command of the cyber. He'll be lucky to survive the backlash; I rather doubt that Musk will, and yes I do mean "survive" in the sense of "not pushing up daisies."

I know--I've had meetings in Federal buildings and since 9/11 it has not been at all simple to walk in the door

AI, huh?

Similar to blockchain, there are good use cases. The issue is that, according to the IBM research website, crypto-currency is a no good very bad use case for blockchain, and running a bureaucracy is a no good very bad use case for "AI"/machine learning.

This isn't only dumb, it's also an exceedingly easy way for them to loot the treasury while AI is causing chaos.

"You have committed a crime..."

...says the man who hacked into the Treasury Department servers, stole classified documents, and committed insurrections against multiple federal agencies.

You know, I would want to break into federal payment systems just as tax season opens, and the first hack is the file-direct-to-irs application. That's where the early money is. And the way to permanently screw the records going forward.

Hm. It also occurs to me that if I didn't already open a Social Security account, has my ability to do so been blocked or expedited or does it still work? You don't have to be retirement age to do it.

I haven't tried to access mine yet. I do recall that I got a letter from them last year saying they weren't sending letters in future, they would only have the information in my account. Can anyone confirm that?

Another way to steal: rob accounts that haven't ever had the amounts in them published.

First, being a nerd isn't a bad thing unless said nerd is a selfish prick. Next, there are already lawsuits in the works against Musk and his band of goobers. Lastly, let's not fall prey to 47 and his cloud of negativity because we can get through this.

I was fine (well, as fine as I could be with Armageddon descending upon us) with most of Trump's insanity because he's an incompetent windbag about stupid shit like wanting to make Canada the 51st state but Musk is another matter entirely. I'd like to see him removed... permanently.

The problem is that he knows he's gone too far to go back now, and it's either total control or ending up hanging around a local gas station, Mussolini style. He can't get total control; the fact he's using green interns in a project like this tells us all we need to know about his level of preparation. But he can break a lot of stuff before termination.

Can't what's left of the CIA do something? Yes, I know the CIA is enjoined from operating internally, but these are extraordinary times. A little discreet poisoning, a whiff of anthrax, a smattering of fentanyl in the air. Something to stop an out of control ADHD ketamine addict.

I don't think there is a lot of overlap between people who say they want guns to fight the government and people who are actually worried about the current government.

90% of the people saying that's why they wanted guns were lying and 80% of those who said that actually like the current government. (all numbers pulled out of my ass for it is irresponsible not to speculate.)

I keep telling y'all to read "Adjustment Day" by Paluhniuk.

It is soooooooooooo timely. And it involves a revolution led by MAGAt types and the aftermath ....

It is in my top 10 all time, and I've read a few books over the last 60 years.
