The governors voice mailbox is full

573-751-3222

That other number in the article

417-373-3400 is not the governor’s phone number.

For you "Christians Matthew 25: 40-45

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Ta, Robyn. Why do we still have a death penalty? It's not a deterrent, and people on death row spend YEARS fighting in court. It's ugly and expensive and does NOT WORK.

Let me guess what action is being taken against the prosecutor, who acted unethically and unconstitutionally in their zeal to convict a black man of murder on insufficient evidence.

Nothing. It's nothing, right?

It's just so evident that the death penalty, in particular, exists not to execute justice, but just to execute someone.

I've often wondered about that well-known phrase "A jury of their peers." The dictionary.law.com site defines it as: "a guaranteed right of criminal defendants, in which "peer" means an "equal." This has been interpreted by courts to mean that the available jurors include a broad spectrum of the population, particularly of race, national origin and gender. Jury selection may include no process which excludes those of a particular race or intentionally narrows the spectrum of possible jurors."

But that term "equal" has challenges of its own. I'm an extremely intelligent, highly educated, very well read and world-traveled person. Someone with an IQ of 95 who has never once left Podunk County is not my "equal" in intellectual terms. But you can imagine what would happen if my attorney insisted that all the jurors in my trial had to have above-average intelligence and a master's degree. There might not be many of those in Podunk County, and if there are they probably found ways to be excused from jury duty.

I remember reading about one of the jurors in the OJ Simpson trial who was a very intelligent and highly educated white woman, and the defense found a sneaky way to disqualify her from serving by planting false evidence that she was reading about the trial in the news while being sequestered. That struck me at the time and I have never forgotten it.

I one time served on a jury. I caused a lot of trouble, and made people late for dinner. That experience left me with grave questions about jury trials

I am befuzzled as to what rationale a "human" can adhere to that says that an innocent man should die "just because" Because WHAT? Because once the wheels of the machine are past a certain point there's no turning back? I don't buy it, the point of no turning back is the point where you KILL AN INNOCENT MAN.

I might give that number a call. My mother was actually murdered by a person who was convicted of the crime due to a guilty plea. My family DOES NOT BELIEVE IN THE DEATH PENALTY. The state of Georgia agreed not to seek it. Our wishes were respected and he is rotting in jail for another 130 years instead (which, ironically, will cost the taxpayers of Georgia less money than seeking the death penalty would have, since there is no way he will live that long.)

If the family of the victims do not want it, then whose justice does this serve? ESPECIALLY since he may be an innocent man!

If you have tried calling MO Governor Parsons' office, you get a voice mail asking you to leave name/number/message and they'll get back to you! But, that is followed up by "this voice mailbox is full...goodbye!" I really hope this is because so many of us are trying to get justice for this innocent man...keep calling!! But, I do not trust Parsons. He has proven himself to be soulless and I hope he has not just shut down his phone system! Is there any way to know?

Do the Ten Commandments mean nothing? It is a mortal sin to knowingly, or recklessly, allow an innocent man to be executed.
