Despite the delay, I feel compelled by my brethren to comment on this post. As I tell everyone, always pick the Donkey Option. Also, the only "University" that might penalize you for protesting guns would be Liberty "University" but since they're a bullshit non-University, perhaps find a real University or College to go to.
I think there's something to be said for wondering about the school shooters evolving right NOW in schools.
I'm wondering if the problem isn't bullying, per se, so much as <*emphasis>not fitting in<*\emphasis>, and the deep loneliness etched into one's being. Just having a couple of friends, and an adult mentor, no matter what your situation is.
The programs sometimes exist, but I wonder if at that age, the kids just accept personal misery or disconnection as normal...and wouldn't think of trying out Big Brother/Big Sister, etc.
I saw a video recently that described the ability to make eye contact as a child as a key behavior in developing empathy. It doesn't work on adults: just kids. The wrinkle here is the difference between autism and psychopathy. I've heard it said that autistics feel emotion but don't understand emotion, while psychopaths don't feel emotion and do understand it.
Lady MS: Thinking back 50+ years, if I were the parent of who I was then, odds are I wouldn't have let ME live. Age 14-17, hated myself & everyone around me, save for the few friends who validated my angst. Had to watch younger brother and make dinner for working Mom/stepdad so they could return to first job or head off to second. My fantasy, back then, was to drop a tab of acid in stepdad's coffee, causing him to hallucinate while pumping gas on his 2nd job, and be hauled away. We had a pistol and a rifle at home. Never once considered using them. It's not about teenagers - it IS about the ammosexual culture of guns.
Roll, roll, roll, roll, Lynx Cats Roll on !! Rhodes is my alma mater (known as Southwestern at Memphis when I was there with teh dinosaurs).

They tried to make it law in the legislature, but failed. There were a few people left with functioning brain cells.

Deepest of all sighs.
The most proximate antecedent?!
Mule #8 has the patience of a saint. That is all.
Yeah, I was giggling, too, when all the schools were threatening the students. They settled that issue a long, LONG time ago.
