Hippie Jesus, Crips & Bloods, Film Festivals

• DC surely isn't Tribeca or Cannes, but that doesn't mean that it can't have its own fancy film festival. In case you haven't gone to the DC Independent Film Festival yet, you have until Sunday to catch a glimpse of acclaimed indie films from across the globe. And there's live music after each show. • Ahh,  Jesus Christ Superstar :  the hippie Jesus rock opera that even Grandma will love. Playing at the Warner Theater until March 22, show times vary. [Warner Theater ]

• In Benedictus , a Muslim and a Jew befriend each other amidst the Israeli-Iranian conflict. This has been done before in the form of Don't Mess with the Zohan , but who's counting? At the DC Jewish Community Center until March 29, show times vary. [ DCJCC ]

• Sunday, March 15: AFI Silver Theater is showing Crips and Bloods: Made in America , a documentary about L.A. thug life. The film was done by former skateboard champ and Dogtown and Z-Boys director Stacy Peralta. 1PM, $10. [ AFI ]

• Tuesday, March 17: In conjunction with this year'sEnvironmental Film Festival, the Natural History Museum's IMAX theater will be showing Van Gogh: Brush with Genius . The film will take you through the rolling landscapes in France and the Netherlands that Van Gogh painted so vibrantly. $13. [ Eventful ]
