Hot Sisters, Hot Asians, New York Jews
Thursday, Feb. 19: More electronic music from English groupFujiya & Miyagi (who sound a bit like Hot Chip if you're into that) and the School of Seven Bells, a pet project of one of the members of the Secret Machines. School of Seven Bells, who have collaborated with Prefuse 73, include those megahot sisters from On!Air!Library!. 7PM, 9: 30 Club. [ 9: 30 Club ]
Thursday, Feb. 19: If you can't think of any other Fountains of Wayne song other than "Stacy's Mom," then it's best that you stay away from their show tonight at the Birchmere. That song was from 2003 and they've come out with pretty much umm, nothing since then. 7: 30PM. [The Birchmere ]
Friday, Feb. 20: Pop punkersLudo play the Rock and Roll Hotel, singing about the usual pop-punk themes: bitching about girlfriends, going on G-rated dates to barbecues and smoking fatties. [ MySpace ]
Saturday, Feb. 21: George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic are turning Baltimore into Funky Town at Rams Head Live, and will hopefully dance around inthese costumes. [ Rams Head Live ]
Sunday, Feb. 22: Luminescent Orchestrii, a Romanian-Balkan-Gypsy punk string quartet (or a chapter in the Da Vinci Code ) are performing with La Strada, an indie-folk get up. Their music is like the soundtrack to Gangs of New York on acid. Unfortunately, Luminescent isn't comprised of Balkan Gypsies, just a bunch of New York Jews.
Wednesday, Feb. 25: HOT ASIAN ALERT: Carol Bui, DC's favorite Vietnamese singer/songwriter, is playing Rock and Roll Hotel, but her songs are kind ofembarrassing to get through. People like Jan from The Office will like her music. Egh. [ Rock and Roll Hotel ]
