House Democrats Vow To Protect Whistleblower From House Republicans

Let's see, where are we on IMPEACH? Wonkette updated you on subpoenas so now we will update you on whistleblowers. There are so many now!

Attorneys for the main whistleblower who got all this impeachment business moving are confirming that there is at least one more whistleblower represented by their firm, and that person has firsthand knowledge of Trump's Ukraine extortion crimes, as opposed to the first whistleblower, who does not have firsthand information but whose sources are so good they've gotten pretty much every detail exactly right, as verified by the White House and the president.

Wheeeee! Of course, that is on top of the IRS whistleblower, whom people are finally paying attention to, who alleges that something hinky is going on with the audit of Donald Trump's tax returns.

The first whistleblower's report has been validated by the partial transcript the White House released of Trump's treason phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, by Trump's confessions on the White House lawn, and by those State Department text messages . So the Washington Post   reports that House Democrats are considering taking radical steps to hide the identity of the whistleblower from House Republicans because they're worried about what those fuckin' traitors will do when the whistleblower testifies, which should be happening soon:

The steps under consideration include having the whistleblower testify from a remote location and obscuring the individual's appearance and voice, these officials said.

The efforts reflect Democrats' deepening distrust of their GOP colleagues, whom they see as fully invested in defending a president who has attacked the whistleblower's credibility and demanded absolute loyalty from Republicans. [...]

"[House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam] Schiff does not want to burn his identity," a senior congressional official said.

As the Post reminds us, this might be necessary because of how House Republicans on the Intelligence Committee (whose names may or not rhyme with MOOOOOOOOO ) constantly leak things to Fox News and to Donald Trump, who has been bitching and moaning about how he wants to "meet his accuser," BIG MAN GRRRRRR! Trump of course has also referred to people in the White House who provided information to the whistleblower as "spies," and remarked wistfully about what we used to do with "spies." (It's perhaps notable that Politico is out today with yet another piece on Trump's bizarre obsession with giving polygraphs to every person in the world, to find out if they leaked on him. No, not "leaked on him" like Russian pee hookers! We mean by giving information to whistleblowers or reporters, you PERVERTS.)

There is a name for the crime these folks are committing, and it is called witness intimidation. The Post reports that Andrew Bakaj, the lawyer for the whistleblower(s), stated in a letter to (acting) Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire that "certain individuals" have put up a $50,000 reward for dirt on the whistleblower. We don't know where that 50K is supposedly coming from, but we bet Lindsey Graham might contribute to the fund if you ask him nicely:

On Sunday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said that if the House impeaches Trump, "I will make sure" the whistleblower faces public questioning.

"If the whistleblower's allegations are turned into an impeachment article, it's imperative that the whistleblower be interviewed in public, under oath, and cross-examined," Graham said on Fox News's "Sunday Morning Futures."

When did Lindsey Graham become a traitor? Oh yeah, we forgot, it was the first time he played golf with Donald Trump. Still don't know what really happened out there on those links.

As for other news involving witness testimony and whistleblowers and whatnot, the White House may have blocked testimony from EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland, citing the long-held legal concept of "Can't say things to Congress that might get Trump in trouble," but Adam Schiff was already ready with subpoenas. Schiff has however also indicated that the inquiry would like to talk to Bill Taylor, current acting ambassador to Ukraine, seen most recently in State Department text messages saying that it's pretty fucked up Trump wanted to make quid pro quos with Ukraine for their already-congressionally-appropriated military aid in exchange for trumped-up investigations into Trump's political rivals. (Whenever Taylor would say that, Sondland would say they should talk on the phone instead of text, so weird.)

So keep your eyes out for whenever Schiff decides it's time to talk to Taylor. He's a career official, he saw a lot, and we have a feeling he's not in the mood to go down with this ship of criminals. Haha, maybe HE is the second whistleblower! Just kidding probably not, the second whistleblower is Melania Trump, just kidding it's Barron, just kidding it's Kellyanne Conway just kidding we don't know who it is, we're just talkin' shit.
