I'm not trying to throw cold water. I'm specifically asking how you - or anyone thinks this actually, physically, logically, strategically gets done when John Roberts , Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, does not want Black and Brown people to vote.
H.R. 1 is the perfect hill on which to mount an agressive offensive in this civil political war. It would so historical and elegant to damn the filibuster to hell over this bill. The moral high ground would be insurmountable. This is the moment to strike the killing blow and end the Confederacy once and for all.
It's a matter of Senate Rules as to what legislation is subject to a filibuster. They can, if they want to, do something like say "Every bill with an even number is subject to the filibuster rule. Odd numbered bills are exempt." And who decides what the rules are? The Senate majority....
The only way things get better is to work to make it better. Emancipation, suffrage, labor rights, civil rights, equality...none of those things were gifts from an enlightened ruling class. They were fought for, bled for, died for by people just like us!
