With Mr. Carter's passing today, as we reflect on his many good works and his excellent character, let us also reflect on the many ways in which the Republican Party shat on him, cheated him, degraded him and thereby shat on, cheated on, and degraded us all. I wish Mr. Carter had called them out. I wish all sane people had been calling out Republican lies, malfeasance, cheating, cruelty, and treasons for the past many decades. Perhaps we would all now be spared from living and dealing with the unrelenting swinishness that is the Acme of Their Creation.

The Speaker of the English House of Commons is "nonpartisan", meaning he is a compromise candidate supported by members of various parties. This seems like a good plan that avoids all the "neener neener we're not going to vote on it" shit we put up with.

A slight correction, Gary. Whoever they pick to be Speaker will not lead the House for the next two years. They will leader the House until the first must-pass vote that requires the Speaker to grovel and beg for Democratic votes.

You know, it would take only a handful of R congress critters to join the Ds and make Hakim Jeffries the Speaker. Are they *all" cowards and crazy? Do they *all* hate the Nation?

The incoming Executive branch is nothing but a rogue's gallery of grifters and scoundrels. The Congress behaves like a middle school student government, and the Judicial branch sits and pontificates on their own personal pet peeves and projects. Good times ahead!!

I would like to suggest one of our Iowa Representatives for the speaker position. They are totally pliable to meet any situation and don’t have any preconceived notions of their own. They can even simulate being christians if you’re into that.

😁No, no they do not. But we have books with interpretive descriptions that they can imitate with their own personal flair.

Ta, Gary. Not sure how I missed this yesterday. I want TFG's legislative agenda, such as it is, to fail completely. Thus, I'm here for it.

When this happens the Democrats should NOT nominate Hakeem Jeffries (excellent of a Speaker of the House as he would be) but should instead nominate @Adam Kinzinger or Liz Cheney for Speaker. It would take only 2-3 Republicans deciding to switch their vote to get one of them elected and it would be absolutely hilarious (not to mention bacon saving not only for them but perhaps for the whole country).

hard NO. don't trust either one and especially Darth Jr. They will go back to full bore MAGAt as soon as they get any power at all, especially when it come to austerity voting our SS and Medicaid away. Liz voted with TCF 99% of the time until his little insurrection put her in danger. She has not rescinded any of the stoopid ass stuff she did during the first term including her rants about Dems killing babbies right as they come out of the uterus. She's an opportunist and what little soul she did have was eaten by her undead father.

Ah, but it would only take one person voting to oust her.

I think this scenario is likely for whoever gets in. Max lulz.
