Gallego and Joe have a decent shot because the overall state is trending ever so slightly blue. Sadly when they saw that writing on the wall the not entirely Independent Redistricting Commission (the supposedly neutral deciding vote is a GOP fundraiser but thats somehow noy disqualifying if you never register as a party member) heavily favored the GOP keeping a 1-3 vote majority in the Hoise and 1-2 in the Senate. There are only 30 districts for the state legislature, each elects 1 Senator and 2 Reps. Only 4 districts are competitive, with 3 tipping for the GOP historically and 1 for Dems. Dems have picked off a couple of GOP cleaners to get where they are today but need a sweep of all the competitive seats to win the Senate and two pretty hefty upsets to take back the House. The abortion initiative likely will help D turnout but the MAGAts are putting stuff like creating a state criminal offense for being undocumented on the ballot (again) to drive up the crazy turnout. I'm worried we will look a lot like Wisconsin in the near future with constant standoff between Dem governors and other statewide elected like th AG and the only in power because of maps GOP state legislature.
People like to call Wisconsin a swing state. I tell my neighbors how much life will suck for them and their children under Trump, just like it did the last time. This is so fucking exhausting.
Back in my time in Wisconsin it was a solid blue state except the southeastern corner that has always been red. Birthplace of modern progressivism. Just like Michigan both states flipped to red over the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs and the weakening of unions
