Remind me the next time I visit my folks--we had the BEST cat (who moved in with us, unbidden) who looked a lot like that cat but more HUGE--not fat, but all muscle giant. He LOVED to drink out of the toilets, so a houseguest took a picture of him getting down on it (he was more dog than cat). My parents have it framed, and I should post it here.

Hi Martini, if possible could you put up the 4:20pm Open Thread Chat? I will be in the process of moving. If not it will be ok. Thank you!

There was a great, long-running book store here called Salmagundi. I miss that place.

Among the feral colony cats sharing the neighborhood with local humans, there's a strain of cats with markings similar to the fellow easing his thirst.

The white with mackerel tabby markings cats also are fiercely bright, territorial as hell, occasionally deaf, and great fun to watch. A particular marauder is becoming a favorite because he's fearless, trap wise and not averse to confrontation...

Salamagundi is word I've known from long ago. How I knew it is beyond me, because I don't recall ever having it as such.. Thanks for the lesson.

In a place I used to work we would randomly open the dictionary and select a word for the day. Salmagundi was one of those words and I never forgot it because it’s fun to say.

Now that I’ve thoroughly learned about it, I plan on finding all kinds of ways to slip it into conversation. 😁

Yeah, Wayne looks a lot like this kitty, only with darker markings, and he does have that dark patch on his upper lip that makes me uncomfortable sometimes. I don't want a Schicklegruber Kitteh! But he IS sweet and affectionate and silly and Nazis can never be any of those, so I feel better.

There’s a No Kings protest just walking distance (at PCH & Warner) from my place, so I don’t have to hassle with weekend downtown HB traffic, etc!

The goal is to have as much of Pacific Coast Hwy from Seal Beach to Laguna Niguel lined with protesters; prolly overly ambitious, but we shall see! ✊

HuffPost, on the Birthday Parade:

"In a final flourish, an elite parachute team is to jump from above the White House, land near Trump and hand him an American flag.

With predictions of as many as 200,000 attendees, the Secret Service is preparing for protests by erecting 18 miles of anti-scale fencing and deploying drones to the city’s skies to keep watch."

Also too: “God Bless the USA” singer Lee Greenwood will perform.

This isn't going to cost $45 million, it's going to cost 3 x that, at least. This administration including the military are lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie and then lie some more.

And that’s not factoring in what it’s going to cost to resurface the streets after they’re torn up by multi-ton tracked vehicles. 🤦🏻‍♂️

To me, these are assassinations:

"HuffPost: Trump Suggests ‘Hardliner’ Iranians Holding Up Nuclear Deal Are Dead

The president spoke briefly on the phone with CNN’s Dana Bash, she noted on X. He again praised the Israeli attack and said, “I don’t know if you know but I gave them a 60-day warning and today is day 61.” “They should now come to the table to make a deal before it’s too late. It will be too late for them,” Trump went on before adding, “You know the people I was dealing with are dead, the hardliners.” Bash said Trump would not name names when asked specifically who he was referring to. He said sarcastically, “They didn’t die of the flu; they didn’t die of Covid.” Among those reportedly killed was Mohammad Bagheri, commander-in-chief of the Iranian military, and Ali Shamkhani, who was helping to lead the nuclear talks with Trump."

if you run out of options, you could use the "XCancel" avenue to view it:

Paste the URL you've been given into a browser, but don't hit Enter (or click/tap whatever it is on your device) to actually load the link. In the link, modify the part that says "x dot com" to read "xcancel dot com" [replacing the word dot with a period, of course] and THEN hit Enter. It will load the tweet and its replies without actually directing you to xitter.

Who's the judge who issued it? So many questions!
