Agree on the capitalism. I like to play with their heads. I tell'em in court the "People" is the DA or the AG protecting us. There, the people is the govt. And we do want to be protected. All the big corporations are "publicly owned." Owned by stockholders. Oh sure, a lot of pensions funds too, and such, but that money comes from people too.So if govt is people, and corporations are people, and it's the same people, what part of socialism don't we now have ?They usually tell me 'I just don't understand.' Oh well.

In part I avoid the word "socialism" because it has no fixed definition in our culture. It means very different things to different people. Publicly funded is clearer.

I also like to work in the term "short-term profit" when discussing corporations. That's all they care about now. Companies used to be proud of lasting for generations. Now it's grab the money and run even if they destroy the company in the process.

Corporations may be publicly owned in large part, but it's the executives driving the bus. They will betray stockholders and the nation alike.
