It isn't helpful, though, for Hunter to have said his father forgets his credit card 90% of the time--if nothing else, we will hear about this from the R's for the rest of the campaign.
I do wish that Lowell had on occasion told Hunter to wait until the questioner was done before he started answering--it resulted in Hunter saying "yes" to some long question that also included an allegation that Hunter was employed by foreign countries. I think they went back and cleaned that up, but this is such a problem in depositions.
It's a fucking sad world when the takeaway of this dumbfuckery is that these GOP Nazis are too busy grilling Hunter, and therefore they have no time to build Gilead.
With just a tad of hyperbole, the sentence above is unfortunately scarily and mainly true.
Wow. That says a lot. Doesn't it? Thanks Hunter for taking one for the team.
They're still hoping to push Hunter into relapse. Because they are heartless ghouls who want to see him dead and his dad "befuddled" for the world to see. They know the orange sociopath would never be fuddled by any such things; he's a sociopath and cares only about himself.
The other day my husband the recovering alcoholic said that a friend must be doing meth again because of her sporadic behavior. I reminded him that it’s just not cool to bring up a past addiction if someone does something a little weird. As an alcoholic he certainly wouldn’t want that.
It can truly be a real trigger for people. I hope that with the years of sobriety that Hunter has, that he stays strong.
Oh yeah. These people asking these questions are all assholes. A pox on their houses
Same here. Only until the $$ started getting low did I decide if had enough. And maybe like you, I didn’t suffer terribly when I did not have any. Like little to no withdrawal pain. That also made it easy to keep doing it. Glad that it’s over now though.
I think we owe the GOPers a lot on this. The contrast they draw between the relationship of Biden and his children and that of the Trumps could not be more stark.
I read through about 90 pages of the transcript and noticed how the Republicans cherry picked certain sentences or short paragraphs that were a little confusing. Like "Look at page 36 where it says .....", then Hunter's attorney says " Look at page 57. That clarifies the statement on page 36." The Republican says okay and jumps to another question. Or a few times when they cite checks or withdrawals on bank accounts. Then Hunter says those are not my accounts and I was not authorized to access those accounts. Some payments may have been paid to that account and later a payment may have been paid to me in a different amount, but money is fungible and you cannot tie those transactions together.
Basically Hunter is saying even if Devon or someone else obtained money illegally there was no way for him to know where money legally paid to him came from. He didn't get a suitcase full of twenties stamped "Bribe from the Chinese Communist Party." He got a deposit from an account he had no reason to suspect. And you still have found no reason to suspect.
Hunter has been investigated by the DOJ for over five years. Including testimony from numerous witnesses and thousands of documents, including reams of financial records. They have found no financial crimes other than failure to pay taxes several years. And were prepared to agree to a plea deal to misdemeanors since he had paid everything back. Until pressure on the Republican prosecutor, now special counsel, resulted in taking the same evidence used in Delaware to California and suddenly decide it merited several felony convictions punishable by decades in prison. Then did the same thing with a low level felony plea for lying when purchasing a pistol. Which he returned a few weeks later. A crime seldom prosecuted unless the gun was used in the commission of a crime.
So just in the small part I read last night all they had were cherry picked snippets out of hundred page long transcripts or even longer books that Hunter's attorneys quickly debunked or pointed out other parts of the transcript the Republicans did not cite cleared up the intent of their citation, and lots of bank statements that proved nothing and that sometimes Hunter had no control or even knowledge of when it cones to transaction he was not directly involved in.
Much of what they were trying to use as incriminating evidence against Joe Biden had no bearing in impeachment, like questions on Hunter's divorce. Other items they tagged as incriminating exhibits were later shown to be bullshit based on later parts of the same transcript or book. their presentation was so full of holes that some people may feel sorry for them. But not me. For one thing they have no shame. Although I do give them credit for not including the dick pix Marge likes to flash around. They are wasting time in a manufactured bullshit effort to harm Biden's re-election bid and ignoring the real, urgent needs of America, our immigration crisis, and the extremely urgent needs of Ukraine
I'll bet the Ukrainian ground troops, between scrounging the pockets of their dead for ammunition, are engrossed by the broadcasts of this riveting US Congressional proceeding. What could be more important to the world?
"SWALWELL: Any time your father was in government, prior to the Presidency or before, did he ever operate a hotel?
BIDEN: No, he has never operated a hotel.
SWALWELL: So he’s never operated a hotel where foreign nationals spent millions at that hotel while he was in office?
BIDEN: No, he has not.
SWALWELL: Did your father ever employ in the Oval Office any direct family member to also work in the Oval Office?
BIDEN: My father has never employed any direct family members, to my knowledge.
SWALWELL: While your father was President, did anyone in the family receive 41 trademarks from China?
BIDEN: No.
SWALWELL: As President and the leader of the party, has your father ever tried to install as the chairperson of the party a daughter-in-law or anyone else in the family?
BIDEN: No. And I don’t think that anyone in my family would be crazy enough to want to be the chairperson of the DNC.
SWALWELL: Has your father ever in his time as an adult been fined $355 million by any State that he worked in?
BIDEN: No, he has not, thank God.
SWALWELL: Anyone in your family ever strike a multibillion dollar deal with the Saudi Government while your father was in office?
BIDEN: No.
SWALWELL: That’s all I’ve got."
That's the official transcript, folks, not the Onion.
I love Swalwell!
GOP just can't understand the concept of a father loving his child and a child loving his father.
Face it. To be a Republican in the first place means you grew up unwanted, unloved, and uneducated. Ask any member of the Trump family.

Feral otter libelz

Vote them out..
Sadly I expect agent orange would not shed a tear for either of his sons.
It's not like Tiny Hands was going to learn any compassion or empathy from his awful parents.

Fuck Hageman! I was a high-functionind addict of over 20 years, one opiate or another. That was my problem and why I didn't see the need to quit.
Same here. Only until the $$ started getting low did I decide if had enough. And maybe like you, I didn’t suffer terribly when I did not have any. Like little to no withdrawal pain. That also made it easy to keep doing it. Glad that it’s over now though.
I had terrible withdrawal. I had to use medically assisted therapy.
I am so sorry. Glad that you are doing well now.
For 10 years now!
"I think that there are a lot of people around this room who suffer from alcoholism that are still in this room and that they're still functioning."
(much functional shuffling of feet on the committee)
I'm getting to really like Hunter's wit and blunt truths.
I think we owe the GOPers a lot on this. The contrast they draw between the relationship of Biden and his children and that of the Trumps could not be more stark.
Ta, Gary.

It does really appear that the "committee" is trying to break his sobriety. This is 3rd, 4th world stuff.
Congressional questions about "fronting" money for the pool service. Your tax dollars at work.
IT'S A FRONT!!!!
I read that in Admiral Ackbar's voice.
That's how I wrote it.
Hiding the Biden family pool crimes!!!
OK, but this is GOLD!
