I can't read this article. My comment would result in my being permanently banned from this recipe blog.

This poor baby (like other children in war-torn zones) will be traumatized for the rest of his life.

I just need a sliver, a frisson, of hope right now. Democrats: Fuck shit up, now.

"House Dems Will Vote To Send Firm Message"

What, no sternly worded letter?!

"The murder of a child by ICE, caught on camera in high definition by a bystander or a school principal?"

Nah. If gunning down 20 first grade students didn't move the nation to take action on guns, ICE murdering children will just be par for the course.

It's truly horrible to "like" this comment because of its truth -- but the truth is that these people are sick, evil, traitors to the Constitution and to the United States itself, and all of them need to be at the looped end of a rope on a gibbet after Nuremberg trials, so rather than "like" this comment, I totally "agree" with its sad, sorrowful, infuriating truth.

Sandy Hook Elementary taught us they don't care about the murder of little kids either.

More difficult to label them domestic terrorists though.

First they came for our constituents, and we did nothing, because Third Way said it might poll badly with Republican voters.

Then they murdered Renee Goode, and we did nothing, because we didn't want to sound partisan.

Then they abducted and trafficked five year olds on camera, and we did nothing, because defending ICE was too radical.

Then Republicans cancelled elections and threw us all in prison on fake charges, and none of our constituents gave a shit because we'd been useless cowards

You left off:

They murdered two of our state politicians, their spouses and a dog and we said nothing but we voted to have Charlie Kirk day.

Yet again...

ICE is not protecting us

ICE is threatening us

Abolish ICE

It's not anti–law enforcement to take a stance against lawlessness and thuggery dressed in a uniform.

If our one bulwark against tyranny is this spineless, they can't be too surprised when we take matters out of their hands and into ours.

Sue's avatar

Agree. It seems to me it's pro-law enforcement to stand up and say this isn't how that job is done. They can do better. Otherwise, they're consigning all law enforcement to be seen as thugs and lawless (and that might be true in the case of ICE)

I need to call Schumer's office - he is my senator, after all - tomorrow and ask him (or whoever answers):

"Have you no sense of decency? A woman was murdered by an ICE thug, little children are being kidnapped by ICE thugs, and you cannot come up with even the tiniest bit of righteous anger? Have you left no sense of decency? If you are not going to stand up for basic decency, then stand aside and let someone else lead the Senate Democrats."

every time I've called, I get Mr. Schumer's answering machine.

I'm glad to see Dok's well-crafted, righteous critique of Dem spinelessness. Not to rant (OK, so it's a rant), but I'm heartily sick of being smacked down every time I find fault with the Dems' lack of united effort. Last week, someone said she empathized with my frustration, but I had to understand that the Dems are in the minority and therefore powerless, so I really should find another outlet for that frustration.

Sometimes I think the Dem apologists are almost as bad as the orange cultists.

Wookiee Monster's avatar

The problem is that all of the Dems who are fighting are outside the congressional leadership. Schumer and Jeffries are worried about being “too radical” while government goons are literally kidnapping children and shooting moms in the face.

NatalyaResists's avatar

Don't stop expressing your frustration.

Mitch McConnell controlled the Senate for years no matter which party had the actual majority.

I think I hate collaborators even more than I hate actual Nazis.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm convinced Schumer is actively working with Republicans behind the scenes to undermine any kind of congressional resistance to trump.

Jeffries I'm more willing write off as cowardly and generally apathetic, but Schumer crossed the line from incompetence to malice a long ass time ago.
