Sounds like a case of natural selection at its finest. Maybe it'll be a better place to live after the loons die off. Pity for the children though. :-(

The hypocrisy is hilarious. These are people who will state that their Libertarian beliefs forbid abortion due to a civil rights violation. But once they're out of the womb? Fuck it, you're on your own.

Does it get any better than that?

it makes me think of this book, the spirit catches you and you fall down. Its about a Hmong child with (if i remember correctly) epilepsy. The family refuses to properly adhere to the doctors recommendations and prescriptions. Near the end of the book, the author is talking to two of her friends about the case, and the question comes up, whats more important, the state of your body, or the state of your soul? Basically, is it worth your life to save your soul. One friend says clearly your soul is more important, as it is eternal. The other says that clearly your body is more important, because even if you believe in a soul it does you no good without a body.

Obviously I'm squarely on the side of body is more important, but I found it fascinating to see inside the thought process of this bullshit.

I couldn't agree more. In fact, that's a large part of why I stopped eating meat. I love my cat more then anything, and the thought of her getting sick and slowly dying just rips my heart out, I just cant contemplate it. It disgusts me that any parent could just lean back and watch their little one suffer and die because jesus. I mean, I'm a pagan, and I have rituals that I would do in that situation, but that would be in ADDITION to medical attention.

They say that going to a doctor is insulting to their god, that it would show a lack of faith in their god's healing ability. I wonder what they think when their loved ones die? I recently watched my mother die of cancer. We had hospice in during her last days. I cant IMAGINE what her final weeks would have been without palliative care. I guess I think these people are hateful monsters, whatever their reasoning is.

The only thing Idaho politicians understand is Money, God and Guns. A national boycott of Idaho products like Idaho Potatoes might get their attention. Otherwise unless the mormon church tells them to change the law then it ain't gonna happen.

Having grown up with idiots like this, I'm not shocked. I mean, we live in a world where Jesus sometimes loves your granddaughter so much he has her sister shoot her in the face with a gun so she can come live with him. No reason to think Jesus might spontaneously also regrow a kidney or whatever.

I believe the Fundy position here can be summarized as follows:Fertilized eggs? "They are holy and human and have souls and must be protected."Actual IRL kids? "Fuck 'em."

Children are like a houseplant that one owns and takes care of by praying over it instead of watering it?

Cause that what it sounds like.

Meanwhile, the science of medicine continues to make advances, in this case one that could save countless lives, that these anti medicine nutters won't let their poor children take advantage of.
