If you don't believe that we live under a terror regime, ask a woman. If she isn't sure, ask a woman in Texas. SHE will have no doubt whatsoever.

I’ve often wondered why any legal entity or health facility have never demanded from legislators where there medical and OBGYN acumen comes from, and whether they should be charged with practicing or making medical decisions WITHOUT A LICENSE….

Ta, Robyn. My mother, of blessed and cursed memory, had six pregnancies. Her first, my brother Mark, was head injured at birth and had cerebral palsy. He lived to age 10-1/2, much of it in an institution inhabited by profoundly developmentally disabled kids. Keeping Mark alive and trying to improve his life was so expensive that Dad sold out to his business partner, who sold out to Celanese for millions in the early 1960s.Elder Sister was next, she died in her 70s. The next was my brother Neil, who was stillborn. Next came Zyxomma. Another boy miscarried, and finally Younger Sister, who like me is alive. Out of six pregnancies, all the boys died; all the girls lived. The stillbirth and miscarriage were why I was five years younger than Elder Sister and five years older than Younger Sister.

That either the stillbirth or the miscarriage would be grounds for arrest, charge, prosecution, and trial enrages me. If men got pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament. And it's still true that between 37% and 50% of all first trimester pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion, better known as miscarriage. The Xtian god will always hold the record for ending pregnancies.

It's time to seriously consider starting a movement to cede the blue states from the totally fucking batshit crazy red ones, or move to Europe. Imo.

Regret's avatar

The blue states should declare independence, ally with Canada, Mexico, and the EU. Then build the wall around the red states that the red states say they want and put a nice big padlock on it.

And with a big, beautiful wall! To keep the New Bigly Confederate States of (Gulf of) America from spreading diseases to the rest of the world.

In Chuck Paluhniuk's novel "Adjustment Day" there is a big split after the revolution. The African Americans are allotted the South and form Blacktopia. The whites have pretty much everything else, except California, which is "Gaysia" for teh gheys.

It's an awesome book, as I've noted on here before.

Edit: The brown people and Asians are put on planes and sent back to their "home countries."

That book is prophetic.

It reminds me of Ecotopia that likewise is weirdly focussed on race, but has some really interesting concepts in it.

I don’t think anyone would condemn JD Vance’s mother had she obtained an abortion. That’s a public service.

If they are gonna prosecute women for having an abortion, they should do the same to the man who contributed to the pregnancy.

I would love to read one fucking Nice Times regarding the TX lege. Just one where laws were being proposed that would benefit everyone and not hurt.

Wow. Despite the SCOTUS decision, neither the Trump admin or El Salvador are going to return the man who was mistakenly thrown in that fucking shithole prison.

Moreover, Trump is apparently saying he's open to sending "homegrown" criminals there.

What in the motherfuck?!?!?!

El Salvador's getting paid per person. The last thing they want to do is return anyone.

And the Trump Administration is constitutionally (in both senses!) completely incapable of admitting error.

Neither of them want to, and everyone else can go hang, as far as they're concerned.

FFOTUS only has said this in his attempt to throw red meat to his masses of asshole MAGAs. I surely suspect that even his sycophantic aides would talk him down from any such move.

That list of states:

"Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas"

is a real rogue's gallery of red states whose legislatures are dominated by right wing Republicans. All but Texas have a "veto-proof" supermajority of Republicans in their state legislatures ( and that's only because Texas requires a 2/3 majority to be "veto-proof" - other states have lower thresholds. )

Now, does anyone want to dispute that Republican domination of state legislatures is a pox on America?

those most opposed to abortion are those who worry that their own mothers would have aborted them if given the choice.

You're probably not wrong - my bio teen mom was sent off to the home for unwed mother's pregnancy Roe & I was then adopted. That argument kind of cracks me up - if I hadn't been born I wouldn't be around to sit in judgment of others, now would I? Nor would I have cared that I missed the opportunity.
