If the kid goes to Harvard and decides to go to law school, she'll at least be a better lawyer than her dad, who was a bumbling DA in a county known for its less-than-stellar DA's and public officials in general. That being said, I wish he had stayed on as our Rep instead of resigning and leaving us with the stellarly dense Tom Tiffany, who might well be our next governor. The big tell is Campos-Duffy's remark, "Catholicism to us is everything." As a recovering Catholic, I think I can ever say fully recovered Catholic, I can say with some great degree of certainty that neither parent has ever read the Bible, and know only the few verses that are on annual repeat at Mass. Their actions prove that they do not understand the teachings of Jesus. And I so hope Paloma does come home and espouse the virtues of Queer Gender Theory while sitting very close to Jeanine at Thanksgiving.
This column could have been written about the choices my cousin’s kids are making about educating their kids. His first grandchild is kindergarten age, and his son and daughter-in-law are “afraid of what his grandson and his younger siblings might learn” if they send them to a public school, so they’re going to home school them. The immigrant great-great grandparents of these children would be aghast to hear such a thing. They were determined that their children would go to the local school; education was paramount. Their descendants—only 100 years later—are saying just the opposite.
