Yes, Marriage is a legal contract. When you get married, you not only accept rights and benefits but also take on legal and financial obligations.

Definition of Marriage

Marriage is the legal union of two people, who are joined together after they obtain a marriage license from their state and take part in a ceremony.

Both people must have the mental capacity to enter into a contract.

From the Ohio Bar:When you state your marriage vows, you enter into a legal contract. There are three parties to that legal contract: 1) you; 2) your spouse; and 3) the state of Ohio. The state is a party to the contract because, under its laws, you have certain obligations and responsibilities to each other, to any children you may have, and to Ohio.

Pre-nups are legal contracts spelling out how assets will be split in case of divorce, alimony, child support, custody of animals, possessions, etc.

Dumb c*nt! If you can't do the job that you were hired for then keep your ass at home. I think that people like that should be exterminated on the spot. Stupid b*tch!

I hope that you are being facetious. And talking about about an exit, not an entrance, you do know that many straight people have anal sex. There is such a thing as separation of church and state. If you can't stop bringing your personal religious baggage to work, then maybe you should find a job where you don't have the work with the public. I've noticed that quite often that the biggest "homo" haters are the ones that are hiding themselves in the gay closet. I think that thou doth protest too much. Idiot!

So if you can't reproduce, you can't get married? Also, if it isn't a legal contract, why do you have to go through the legal system to end a marriage?

I like a lot of homosexuals (you not so much) . False things can and do last; ie-religion.

We never took a class in contract law, did we? A marriage (and an engagement, by the way) are both pretty standard contracts. Both will be in the examples you read in the first week of class.

Fucking morons. (I'm all out of clever phrases to describe these drooling cretins, and I've exhausted my last ounce of patience with their bullshit.)

Stupid argument. Just fucking stupid. I'm sick of sanctimonious dumbasses like you - so do you and your wife go for making a baby every single time you have sex? If not, then STFU, because you've just destroyed your own stupid talking point.

Martin - I'll give you your "contract" - the IRS tax code, which has literally hundreds of rules applying to the contract of marriage. Now shut up. Your stupidity is making my hair hurt.

No. I will admit that you are a truly persistent and obnoxious dumbass, though. Have a nice day. Or not. Your argument is stupid and falls into the "I know you are but what am I?" category.

Substitute any matter there are laws about for "churches" in that sentence and you might get a clue how ridiculous your statement sounds there.

Psst. Try reading a poll sometime. Just about ANY poll. A majority of Americans support this, and you just have to get over that.

People hate gays because "stuff like this?" You hate it when other people have rights equal to yours? Who is being selfish here? And who exactly is going "wha wha (sic)?"

Let it go, quit whining. Gays can get married and it doesn't affect you at all.

No one is trying to take love out of anything. Indeed, that is the reason people have fought so long and so hard - to have the right to marry the person they love. Since you seem to have a reading comprehension issue - I said RELIGION had nothing to do with marriage, not love.

No kidding, really? Laws aren't the same as contracts? No sh*it, sherlock.

"Marriage is a legally sanctioned contract between two people. Entering into a marriage contract changes the legal status of both parties, giving the spouses new rights and obligations."

LOL. Do you regularly insult people and then expect them to provide professional services to you for free? How is that working out for you in real life?

Right Mr. Lewis, except for those times when it was the union of one man, one woman and 600 or so other women and some eunuchs, then, there was supposedly at least a time fairly recently when it was one man and as many wives as he could afford as in Mormonism.
