If we don’t get the compromised vote tabulators out of the system we’re only going to win in places they don’t care about or are the 30% that they haven’t gotten to. Election truth alliance and smart elections have analyzed the 2024 presidential election in swing states and elsewhere. There is clear evidence of tampering. It’s shocking.

Isaiah Martin's mistake was thinking any Texas Republican feels shame.

None of them do.

"The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct."

-US Constitution, Article I, Section 2.

In any reasonable world, a further redistricting of a lawfully enacted and legally compliant districting map prior to the next census would be unconstitutional. But John Roberts has never seen a voter suppression scheme he didn't like, and of course he'll hasten to the National Archives to wipe his ass on the original Constitution to rubber stamp this scheme.

That said this could easily backfire on Republicans. Texas Congressional Districts are already gerrymandered as much as the Legislature believes is safe; any further gerrymandering is as likely to put existing Republican districts at risk as to create new ones. And I got a say that it would be hilarious to see Republicans suing other Republicans to overturn elections while using liberal civil rights arguments.

"all I’ll say is, I’m going to look at it closely with Hakeem Jeffries.”

And then I sighed and shrugged and thought of what COULD have been

JEFFRIES? SERIOUSLY? I promise you he is the LAST person you want to go to do do ANYTHING REMOTELY 'out of the ordinary...You are LITERALLY going to have to do this in SPITE of him

"I’m going to look at it closely with Hakeem Jeffries"

Oh, don't do that. He'd probably just talk about how what the GOP is doing is bad and wrong, then send off more fundraiser emails and texts rather than doing anything substantial.

The one that says "We're just $5.00 short of transforming the Supreme Court" and I'm the only one that hasn't donated and if I don't donate right now because I'm the only one left to save the nation the Supreme Court will rule me persona-non-grata I find both frightening and amusing, simultaneous!

The headline on my mailbox read 'If Texas wants to play dirty, Kathy Hochul..." and I was certain the sentence ended "...won't retaliate, because 'That's not who we are'."

A late comment (been doing yard work all day). I've been a Californian for (jeez) 54 years, so I've seen the pre-redistricting-reform and the current era. The outstanding feature of the ancien regime was that districts were drawn to favor incumbents of both parties. The Lege had a lot of bipartisan good-ol-boy stuff back in the day.

I was dubious about Arnie's independent map-drawing initiative, because I was dubious about everything Arnie. I'm pretty sure I voted no -- I liked the idea, but assumed there was a poison pill somewhere.

After it was implemented (couple years) the Democrats achieved a supermajority in both houses of the Lege. It turns out that fairly drawn districts led to more contested districts, and Democrats tend to do well in those because they are (mostly) not fascist assholes.

The impact on Congressional districts was more gradual, but this term is 43 D, 9R.

I am not sure what can be done to usefully gerrymander that.

Just a short note - if the Democrats win control anywhere - they need to pass Democratic legislation with Republican techniques - just get it done -

Put on Beyoncé’s TEXAS HOLD ‘EM if you need a lil livening up with some cowgirl hootin and hollerin. It begins, “This ain’t Texas (whoo!), ain’t no hold ‘em, so lay your cards down, down, down, down…

It’s a real life boogie and a real life hoedown,

Don’t be a bitch, come take it to the floor now” is exactly what I’d like to say to the Texas lege.
