I hope the fucking NIMBYs get over themselves and we get wind farms out in the LI waterways. They were proposed about twenty years ago and they were all like that’s going to make the views unattractive. I think windmills make the waters look beautiful. A majority of the year you can’t even get in the waters around LI anyway because the water is fucking cold.
Maine is planning for offshore wind that will be between 25-120 miles offshore. No turbines are in the water yet and people are blaming whale strandings and ecosystem change on wind development, which again has not occurred.
OT: OK - no more treats for kitty - she is getting too obsessed and I am getting too weak-willed to resist the manipulative behavior - so we are taking a break from them - soon they will be a distant memory
my mother feeds two feral cats who pretty much just live on her porch. she recently started giving them a "treat" at 3:00 because, you know, it's so long between breakfast and dinner (dinner is at 5:00, for pete's sake). i've tried to talk her out of it--one of them is getting paunchy--but how hard do you argue with a 100-year-old?
I just hope that this new initiative for GE doesn't result in the same amount of pollution ( with PCBs ) of the Hudson that their previous plants ( further north ) did. It tooks decades for GE to agree to dredge a lot of the Hudson further north to remove those pollutants ( I'm not even sure they're done yet ), so one can only hope this isn't a new source of pollution for the Hudson.
I remember when they started issuing warnings about eating fish caught in the annual shad runs, which used to be a big thing just below the Esopus and Rondout Creeks confluence with the Hudson ( said to be the biggest influx of fresh water south of the Mohawk ).
Hey Dok, thank you so much for all the climate reporting. I don't know if I say enough about how much I appreciate you.
I am 100% with you on the WPA art, the whole Civilian Climate Corps thing would be so great but that devious Joe Biden keeps adding jobs to the economy so there's no widespread unemployement problem. I hope the unions and climate activists have a lovely time nonetheless! Power to the people, right on!
Tim Walz, Taylor Swift, green manufacturing union jobs in the USA with help from Biden....
Way, way better than yesterday. Could we have a NOTHING BUT NICE TIMES! FRIDAY? A PAB free society Friday? Too much to hope for? We'll see....we'll see.

So they will enjoy their lovely view and speed up climate change until the planet becomes uninhabitable for their kids and grand-kids.
They want unobstructed views who cares about the environment.

The Hudson has fish in it again.

We are gonna need those posters NOW!!
The ghost of Jack Welch haunts the bottom of the Hudson River among the PCBs
As well as every large semiconductor company in the US since the 1990s - many of which are out of business now.
Shit. I didn't know Jack Welch croaked. Thanks for giving me a reason to celebrate something today.

OT: Woman tried to set fire to the Atlanta home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
She was stopped in time, by alert bystanders.

A 26 y/o "Veteran in distress"? We are definitely fucking up somewhere here.
You might think some American news org might notice this…
What in the ever loving fuck? :( :( :(
Thank goodness someone intervened!
I like this Doktor Zoom feller. He frequently posts well researched pieces that don't make me lay on the floor in the fetal position sucking my thumb.
The day is yet young, friend.
Give it time.
Awww, you guys know me too well!
Today's recap....
TABS!---always a great start
Tim Walz, Taylor Swift, green manufacturing union jobs in the USA with help from Biden....
Way, way better than yesterday. Could we have a NOTHING BUT NICE TIMES! FRIDAY? A PAB free society Friday? Too much to hope for? We'll see....we'll see.
Kinda depends on what idiocy happens in Judge Engoron's courtroom today.
I gathered idiocy was scheduled for Monday.
Wait, WHAT? Coeymans is right by me! They build gigantic, awesome stuff at that port!

Did John Barron finally quit because Trump never paid him?
It's also making the whales commit mass shootings.
"You know what America probably could use? Some WPA-style murals to depict the wonders of this clean energy transition we’re embarking on."
Thomas Hart Benton has always been one of my favorite painters.

And somebody to sing about wind turbines (Springsteen? Swift?) like Guthrie did about the Bonneville Power Authority.

OT, kinda: 199K jobs added in November, unemployment down to 3.7%. OHJB continues to guide us out of Crooked Donnie's COVID-45 recession.
Kitten abruptly powered down after a few hours of bouncing off the walls and destroying everything. Kittens rule!
Your kitten is way too cute and in danger of breaking the squee meters depite her fragrance
PS Obstructed meconium plug...he was literally full of shit haha
Ooooh he must be tiny! Poor baby, he must be so much happier now.
He is such a relaxed velcro kitty when powered down, different cat practically. Garfield is the going name, trying on Wilson atm
