After some discussion with my son who lives with me, I also canceled my Amazon Prime subscription renewal, by Kindle Unlimited, my Amazon music unlimited and anything else I could find with Amazon’s name on it. Basically, local businesses in my town will benefit. Yeah, I know, it’s tiny, not even a drop in the proverbial bucket, but when each site asked me to fill out a ‘customer survey’, I let them have it! Don’t know who gets to read those, but somewhere in Amazonia, an AI is laughing their gears off, I’m sure.

Ta, Dok. I remember subscribing to both WaPo and NYT. Seems like a long time ago. Fortunately, we subscribe to Wonkette.

It's sad, but the only thing these cancellations will accomplish is more cuts to reporters and editors. Bezos don't give a fuck. I do support the idea of putting Lewis' scalp on the line, though.

Bezos makes a great case for why newspapers and news media in general shouldn’t be owned by billionaires who want to score government contracts (AWS and Blue Origin). Obviously, if the owner is worried he may lose government contracts if his newspaper offends one party or another, then maybe he shouldn’t be in the newspaper business.

How do you expect billionaires to control what goes in the news if they don't own the news, hmmm?

Agreed. If he cared THAT much and worried THAT much, he could sell it or put it in trust or a billion other things that are not "kissing Donald's ass just in case"

Dinosaurs didn't go extinct from some meteor hitting earth, it was just a long series of moral and ethical compromises, each of which seemed small at the time, until their ecosystem eventually collapsed.

disheartened by the lack of news in the news these days … i was raised on Cronkite et.al. & find the current state of the media wanting … i’m down to msnbc & even they spend an inordinate amount of time promoting books or podcasts by popular guests & their own on air personalities … Paddy Chayefsky wasn’t far off when he wrote Network in 1976 …

I mean, if I was President Harris, I’d make sure Bezos loses every contract he tries to get in her administration. Did he ever think of that?

Or it could be made conditional on divesting himself of his media holdings. It's an obvious conflict of interest.

Democrats NEVER go after people like that. Because it would throw the government agencies relying on those contracts into chaos, but also because retribution is just generally not a Democratic thing.

Orange stain don't care about chaos tho.

Someone should tell Kim that the only reason Rebecca isn't a billionaire is that she makes poor investment decisions with her $25 million net worth - like hiring more snarky Wonkette writers. Just think how rich she could be if she didn't do that.
