If the NDP (German Nationalist Party. Been banned for ages, rebranded, got banned again) is any indication (which it should be), ban these motherfuckers.
Perhaps we are getting the origins of fascism and Nazism wrong. We see these movements as political in nature, mainly because political parties supported these far-right movements and agendas.
But fascism and Nazism seem to have a very conservative Catholic origin through entities, such as Opus Dei, that have advocated for a return to a religious environment in which the Church was the major world power. Mussolini, Franco, and Hitler, and their most loyal supporters, were Catholic conservatives.
That conservative Catholics would join forces with conservative Protestants in the US, England and Canada to support fascism and Nazism agendas only reflects the political realities in these countries.
This would explain why MAGA seems to be more of a cult than a political movement,, why so many people see Trump more of a religious figure than a political figure, and why so many people will believe Trump no matter how insane he sounds.
The party's prevailing understanding of the people based on ethnicity and descent is incompatible with the free democratic basic order. It aims to exclude certain population groups from equal participation in society, subject them to unconstitutional discrimination, and thus assign them a legally devalued status. Specifically, for example, the Republican Party does not consider American citizens with a migration history from predominantly Muslim countries to be equal members of the American people, as defined ethnically by the party.
How come no one in the press is asking these chuckle fucks who are whining about "conservative views" being silenced when precisely conservatives became nazis?
Every WWII German POW in US was returned to Europe by 1946 except one escapee. Some labored in Europe up to three years later, but none were held here until 1950, except possibly some who had murdered fellow prisoners.
i'm not an apologist, but there were probably people in the nazi party who didn't want to be - you had to conform, that is the thing about fascism. BUT if a country wants to ensure that they can never be backed into that position ever again, well as long as they aren't putting people up against the wall revolutionary style, its no ones business but their own. i can see the appeal of wanting to deny atrocities (no one wants to think their country lost their minds and did that horrible thing) and some may even say its extreme to pass laws preventing the denial of that horrible thing, or hate speech or other associated behaviours, but again, its not our country and not our business
Denazification was led by General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Eisenhower does not become president until January 20, 1953. The Nuremberg trials occurred because President Harry Truman insisted that those responsible for genocide needed to be held accountable. Truman sent Justice Robert Jackson to be the lead prosecutor.
"and by far the most representative of East Germany."
So, along with American Nazis, J.D. "Give me whatever donuts normal people order" Vance takes his lead from the glory that was the German Democratic Republic.
In away, it is amazing that they have not done more damage to our country and the world given their inspirations.
"Germany just gave its spy agency new powers to surveil the opposition. That’s not democracy—it’s tyranny in disguise."
Sort of like if you demand that your Justice Department investigate the fund raising arm of your opponents, even though your own fundraising arm has far more complaints against it?
"The AfD is the most popular party in Germany, and by far the most representative of East Germany."
Well, a) they came in *second* in the recent election, so by definition they're not the most popular.
b) My dad lives in East Germany, and while it's true that AfD gets more votes there than in the West, there've also been some pretty big anti-AfD protests, and not just in Berlin (which is notoriously left-wing, even more so than is typical for big cities). My dad's gone to more than a few.

Fun fact about the anti-immigrant AfD: They have the most voters in regions that have the least immigrants. So their hate comes from ignorance.

Say, you know *who else* represented East Germany?
Finally, I get to bring out my Erich Honecker jokes!
This reminds me of the old canard: WHY WON'T YOU TOLERATE MY INTOLERANCE???
